Love the way we were prepared to give away frees in the act of showing the filth we have come to play.
They had no answer or preparedness for this new old Carlton.
And Voss just as bemused as anyone in the presser by the turnaround in form. Great stuff.
Seemed to show up in the way St Peters boys Sh@t the bed. I'm beginning a motion to nominate them the 'Dacks' boys. As in filled their Dacks.
Missing in action.

He has been my most nourishing morsel of this unbelievable revival. Was one of three players I have been very critical of for his output since we acquired him. Career best form an absolute gun, x factor, one % king …. so important to our forward structure. Not one to give a toss when I’ve been proven wrong …. THIS HUMBLE PIE IS FULL OF NOURISHMENT!
Was walking around mid way through last watching the game when they looked like they were coming.
In one play they were going forward and from nowhere off centre came JM
Pressure act and stopped them in their tracks
Makes such a difference when you are healthy, he is awesome. And in a couple of weeks marchbank will shine.
Next week expecting lots from cunners as well
Go blues

Mots has found is mojo
Great to see Marchy back did well
awesome team effort, everyone played their part without walshy, 1/2 Cerr, no Harry…

I get the N Daicos bashing. Dunno....anyone else feel something deep, deep down knowing he supported the Blues as a kid. I know he'll stay a Pie player for the rest of his career, but yeah...
Y'know this is a myth, right? He was mates with Jsos and Sos got him in as a junior to play some kick to kick etc with Carlton afl players. So he spent a season or so around the club and 'supported' Carlton because of it. He's never been an actual carlton fan.

Ya right.
But whose spot does he take?? Easy to say Marchy but those lads formed a great BIG defence tonight. 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️
I'd have Marchbank over Boyd.
He offers the ability to intercept and he played some good footy last night.
Cincotta offers similar to Boyd but with a stronger body in the contest.
Side note, 'Gov and Saad have both lifted defensively in the last few weeks but it was also good to see 'Gov slam through that goal and make them worry about what he can do.

And the hit on Crisp really set the tone.
I think I have a serious man crush now! LMAO

In the spirit of 'taking one for the team' and so our Blue Bretheren don't have to debase themselves, I took it upon myself to venture, quietly, onto the * post match board.

A few take aways

  • We played oiur grand final (Again, apparrently. I thought that was 2 weeks ago)
  • They kicked themselves out of it in the 3rd (of course their tin arse for the rest of the season goes unmentioned)
  • Charlie only gets goals because of the umpiring........WTF?
  • no mention of the armchair ride they got from the maggots for 3 quaters
  • no mention of the 'gone fishing' Daks boys' as in filled their dacks
  • apparently they lost because they played Maso. Hard to disagre with this one. Being superhuman tall does not make one a footballer.
  • delusion seems to be strong among the toothless
Somebody should tell them that they were 12-1 in the 13 games Cox had played prior to this one. And 26-5 in the last 2 seasons when he plays.
Other than that, it's a very valid argument.

Best game Jack Martin has played for Carlton since his debut?
Weitering is in AA form. Was always in the right position. Our rock.
Cerra is a star. Owned the first half.
Newman was immense in breaking down the Pies run and gun style - so many times was the immovable object. Having his best season. A real leader on field.
Charlie kicked six but played a team role - leading up the field to provide an option and clearing space over the back.
Docherty is as gutsy as you will see.
Owies adds something which is hard to define. Often had to act as a target (Eddie betts style) when Charlie was mobile. Fights till the death.
McGovern and Kemp are both learning down back. Still make mistakes but their speed and attaching intent gives us more weapons in transition.
Thought we had plenty who didn’t have great nights but contributed when needed - Hollands, Kemp, Pittonet (strength in ruck contest the platform for clearance dominance), Acres, Saad, Motlop (tackles and defends now), Dow (disposal and defence still lacking) but important at the coal face as our first choice mids drop like flies.
TDK, Cunners, Fog struggled.
Cripps was incredible in the last quarter. Took on the responsibility to lead by actions. He’s playing a more selfless role and it’s bringing others into the game - doesn’t need to get 30 possessions to meaningfully impact games.
Our game plan has been tweaked no doubt - we’ve removed the complications and backed in players to use their strengths and win one on one contests all over the ground.
It only works however if everyone buys in around pressure.
Team selection (yes availability helps no end) is prioritising intensity at the ball and at the man.
Our skills were never the main problem - having the time and confidence to execute was. Pressure on the opposition buys time and builds confidence.
We went at Collingwood last night like few have this year. And they crumbled.

Hi all,
Great game tonight.
Congrats on the win.

Question (as I’m genuinely interested):

Does this performance mean you can get over the top of us in finals?
Finals are always another ball game entirely. Some teams can't take that step; others can, but require a home ground advantage or finals experience to do it before they really become a chance at the flag. Others go to another gear.

Won't know where we sit until we're there, and we've got to get there first.
Is it proof you’re the form team to beat?
Our form is pretty good, so 'spose. Rest of the AFL can't really ignore it now; beat 1 and 2 on the ladder, the second by almost 10 goals. Beat you lot with at least 4 of our best 22 out - one of them a key forward, meaning you could sit two on Curnow - and that is entirely dependent on whether or not you think Silvagni and Boyd are best 22 as with them included it's six; I do, but you mightn't.

If we're to be credible, we need to win all remaining games and get as close to top 4 as we can. That would make us the team to beat.
Or still work to do when the whips are cracking?

Where does this place you?
In an interesting position. Dark horse, rather than premiership favourite.

Don't want to dwell on the negatives after a win like that but Marchbank is a worry for mine. Obviously a difficult game to be thrown back into the senior team for but I saw him as a clear weak link.

He is a good mark but some of his body positioning was really poor and the play tends to stagnate when he has ball in hand. Has always taken a long time getting the ball from hand to foot and the opposition know this and try and close him down. Decision making questionable too.

Not sure what we do given Young's loss of form, perhaps worth persisting with Marchbank for a few more weeks to see if he can find his groove.

Incredible performance and atmosphere in the crowd. Best win in years. Hard to replicate the emotion of footy in the stands late when it was clear we were going to win. Weiters, Charlie, Newman and Martin outstanding. Cerra BOG until subbed - hope it’s only minor. Also thought Mots and George were under the radar good.
