Anyone else notice the resemblance one of the central umpires had to David Teague o_O

Love seeing daicos going in hard
Jesse would have mounted him.

Cripps ran straight at him and only decided to go back the other way because another Pies bloke was coming in from the side.

If we can get Walsh, Cerra, Kennedy and Cripps around the ball the Pies mids will not stand a chance.

He’s been talked up as a second coming of Jesus - we found a way to reduce his impact tonight and it was mainly through physical pressure.
16 other clubs will take note.
It was always going to happen. I’m surprised it took this long although, Brisbane knocked him around at the Gabba and Port tightened the screws. He will work it out, Walsh did… Then again, it is Walsh!

Jack is now jumping over opposition rucks… and when the ball hits the ground, he reacts faster than their rucks and is another midfielder.
Still not convinced that it's sustainable, nor am I convinced that it won't be harmful to him. Pinch hitting is fine, anything more than that IMO isn't desirable.

Confidence is a wonderful thing. It was evident last night that this team now believes it can match any team in the comp and come out on top. The pressure we applied got to the Pies. I loved how we didn’t panic when they launched manic runs from the back half. One got through it was next man up. Eventually we forced turnovers. And with ball in hand we picked them off going the other way. Curnow caused panic all night. All that scragging in the last quarter was the end result. To think that we did this without a number of first choice players demonstrates the basic tenet. Team first takes you to greater heights.

Hi all,
Great game tonight.
Congrats on the win.

Question (as I’m genuinely interested):

Does this performance mean you can get over the top of us in finals?
Is it proof you’re the form team to beat?
Or still work to do when the whips are cracking?

Where does this place you?

Was a tactically very interesting game.

Ps: I know I’m posting here on the good graces of the blues fans….but if you’re going waste you’re time trolling me and giving this a “stuff you”….all power to you!!
I mean, with Walshy and Cerra firing next time ( hopefully..) SOS and Hazza back should be an amazing game next time.

Come finals we might have Cerra, Walsh, McKay, Kennedy and JSOS in our starting lineup and you might be missing a few…we’ll see how it goes
Oh yeah! I forgot Kennedy.
Be afraid Pies. Be very afraid.

I think the result we got, with the injuries we have, puts us up there as the form team in the comp right now. But September is a long way away and the majority of our boys haven't played finals before. I'd still be betting on a Pies premiership, but as the Doggies showed us in 2016, anything can happen....

Soft effort by Nacios on Newman before the missed tackle on Crippa

I think that all of the contenders are looking at us in that way right about now. We are capable of beating any of them with the way we are playing. Our players are playing with a steely resolve, keep that going and anything is possible.

Loved how Cripps got in Nick Daicos face and pushed him. Nick didn’t react. :D
Nick: OMG omg..thst's Paddy Cripps.
I LOVE him!!!
Oh geez, why'd I let Josh and dad talk me into joining this team.

The Pies' fans arrogance leading into this game was astounding; very few were anything but super arrogant. It made the win so much sweeter.

I cast my eyes across the crowd to see if I could spot the DHs who were sitting behind us last time in the hope that I could remind them of their behaviour and stick it up them, but no such luck (tbf, the ones around us this game were much better). I think it's partly false bravado - deep down they're very nervous about September but trying not to show it.

Pre-game we were discussing their relative 'softness' in the middle.

"Footsteps" is a great player and very young, so might develop a harder edge but some of those efforts in contest are a bit embarrassing for the team. Hence the Nick-name.

Lipinski very soft, as he was with the Bulldogs. Even Pendles and JDG have their moments imo.

Of their hard players - Mitchell, Adams, Crisp - Mitchell and Adams have serious weaknesses.

We smashed them physically without a top 3 mid for the entire match and without another for a half. Not enough was made of our ability to stand up after the loss of Cerra imo.

If we meet in September with a full selection of mids available, they won't know what's hit them!

Sky's the limit. We have the list. 💪

(oh, it's probably been mentioned, but Jordan Lewis mentioned post-game that he thought Pies' players flinched in the contest. Don't often hear that from a commentator. Loved it.)

That passage in the last quarter when he burst through two players tackles and kicked it forward and we kicked a goal was the game winning moment. Big Captains game tonight.
Especially after being sniped by Adams putting his knee into the back of his cork. Cripps whinced, gave Adams the look of death (Adams Shyte himself) and beast mode was triggered.
