If he's slow, why was he asked to play HB in the absence of Saad and Doch?

Kennedy has more strings to his bow than Hewett and certainly more strings to his bow than Ed

I'd back Kennedy to have kicked around 9 goals (1.5 per game) this year if he played a combo of HF and mid

Surprised so many are annoyed. I'm not sure what people were expecting?

Saad and Doch back early. Big win. Russell normally conservative with returning players so have to assume they are fine.

Kennedy dropped. Harsh but our midfield is super slow. Could have been Hewett but on historical form he is the better player.

People have been saying our midfield is one dimensional and lacks run. Cripps, Walsh, Cerra, Hewett, Doch (given we named 8 defenders he spends time there) is the most balanced midfield we have played all year.

Dow unlucky but is a pure onballer. Would need to rotate Cerra/ Walsh forward more to accomodate him. He is certainly not competing with Ed for a spot who played 100% defensive half forward last week.

Kemp gets a game which is great. Well deserved and something supporters have been calling for. Gives us more flexibility.

Honey and Fisher I would love to drop but with Motlop already out and nobody in the VFL it clearly couldn't happen. Anybody calling for Fogarty hasn't been watching our reserves.

No Binns and Carroll. Binns is playing wing where Acres and Hollands have been solid. Could make an argument to play him as a 3rd winger but hes young and the VFL development wont hurt him. Carroll has played one good game all year. Let's see if he can back it up.

We were never going to drop 5-6 players, particularly those without replacements. You can't change everything at once or you won't know what works.

There are enough changes in the lineup to suggest we are taking our poor form seriously and will be making some structural adjustments

Hewett is very average as a defender. Kennedy we don't seem to want to use forward for some reason.

Because despite what everyone is saying, he's rubbish. Jack is barely effective but his heart smarts and ok ish pace make up for what he lacks.

Kennedy doesn't have forward IQ or any pace. What're you gonna do with him forward? He won't take a damaging player like Wilkie out of the game like Jack did, he won't stop a rebounding half back, he can't create separation on any defender. So do youplonk him at FF to do the job of a slow lumbering tall. He's not a full forward.

Kennedy is like dow, he's just a mid.

A couple of things I’ll be hoping to see tomorrow:

• Much sharper and more daring ball use and speed from half back. Get speed on the game to open it up. Saad and Doc should help with this.
• Much better mid-forward connection. Lower the eyes to hit up leads. Small forwards getting to dangerous spots to impact.

These areas need to be sharpened up quickly for our likely season defining next 4-5 weeks.

The onball group is still slow, unless Docherty is in there full time. Then it's our defence which is still too slow.

Do you really think a backline of Saad, Cincotta, McGovern, Kemp then Newman, Young and Weiters is slow?

Interesting you say that as a mate of mine was sitting with a current Carlton player and another person of Carlton royalty and another team's list manager a couple of weeks ago and the player said the same thing. Our forward line work rate is pathetic.
