I was told a rumour a few years ago that at the time seemed both completely plausible (boys club) but also a long way off in terms of timing.

We are now much closer to that rumour being possible in my opinion so I will share it (although I feel as though this may have come up here before).

I was told by a non-football dept staffer that Nicks would be replaced by Goodwin as coach at some stage.

At the time Melbourne were flying high around the time of their premiership and Nicks had just been extended until 2024 so I wasn't expecting it any time soon but with Melbourne falling away a little this year and Nicks not setting the world on fire, I wonder if this supposed plan is now back in play if the heat continues to turn up on both coaches..

Would anyone be surprised? Roo employing yet another of his mates - because his previous ones (Burton and Justin Reid) have been so successful.
If his wife was a man he'd have employed her as CEO by now.

They made the 8 in Hardwick’s fourth, fifth & sixth years, but couldn’t win a final.

In his seventh year (2016) they fell out of the 8.

But the significant event happened during/after that 2016 season, when they commisioned a massive independent review of the club’s entire operations.

Amid all this a high-profile supporter’s group tried to spill the board and told them, among other things, that Neil Balme should be the new head of football.

It was a big enough threat for Peggy O’Neal to meet with them and although they obviously didn’t spill the board (and were never a realistic shot at doing so), they did have some impact in putting the club on notice.

Of course the difference between Richmond and Adelaide is that Richmond’s board is actually accountable to its members.

Adelaide’s isn’t and doesn’t even pretend to be.

It’s ironic you’d suggest someone who’s critical of the club and players is a fanboy. I would have thought that sits better with the Fools and Drolls who don’t think for themselves beyond “back the boys in, club good, club do no wrong”

If you sit through our games not commenting or getting frustrated with poor performance, then you’re nothing more than a theatre goer.
