so glad we won that dead rubber against west coast at the end of the year..

I mean, we’d have pick 6 instead of pick 9 if we didnt..

pick 6 couldve really tempted the dees to actually let Oliver go.. cause picks 5 and 6 with our f1 and dees pick 15 wouldve been very tempting to WC as a swap for pick 1..

Effectively taking $1million dollars out of the dees chocked to the brim salary cap and replacing it with Reid on a much smaller draftees salary..

but it was a good win we had over west coast…

Had the happy clappers clapping

I mean they didn’t give him the flick, we poached him when he wasn’t yet a line coach

I’m guessing he has family down in Geelong that he want to move back closer to?

Rahily was Geelongs forward coach when we poached him.

So we’re losing McAdam, Doedee and probably Rahilly

and “gaining” C.Burgess (28) and potentially Lemmens (29)

Jesus… consider my expectations for next year well and truly tempered. If this is a move to get pick 4 all shall be forgiven but I’m certainly not holding my breath

And knowing this club’s insane obsession with “experience” I’m almost expecting them to prioritise these GC cast-offs over promising kids
All this emotion and conclusion. Trade period hasn't event started, and apparently we ****ed it up. Nice measured approach.

Reza got this one right. Has had a few correct sources over the journey.

Check the dates. Both on October 16.

That’s not getting it right, that’s reporting what you read/heard in the media same day

When is the last time a top level mid moved clubs? Dangerfield? Struggling to think of another since. Then Ball and Judd.

We need to draft one. Need a 2018 draft.
I reckon there's more but it depends on what you call top level.
Cerra, Kelly, jhf, Taranto, Neale, brouch, are just a few names who have changed clubs for different reasons. Any of these guys would be in our starting 22 next year.

Nah. The worst news by far is that we are considering Lemmens, which would be even worse if we traded him in.
This would completely reverse the competent recruitment attempts and successes we have had recently.
My confidence in AFC judgement would take a deep dive.
Taking two marginal players from GC has pick 4 written all over it.

We can justify Burgess based on a need but a second player who apparently is actually an AFL player seems completely irrelevant to our squad.

Freo traded us McLeod because they didn’t like his “attitude”.
AFL, and indeed all sport, is littered with examples of judgements on character coming back to bite clubs.

Amazes me how people think McLeod was an unknown; a maybe.

He was THE hottest young player in the country. A Harley Reid like prospect who Freo had access to outside the draft as part of their start up concessions

Neesham did us the solidest of solids by laying down the law to Jock McLeod and son.

He sure showed them 😂😂😂😂

How dumb is rahilly for going back to geelong after they kicked him out. He wouldn't look like such a peanut if he was going back to any other vic club.
I think it's not what it appears for James. The club with Chris Scott (or maybe just Chris Scott) moved on all their assistant coaches at the end of 2021. They wanted a fresh coaching team.

Where this gets tricky is that some of the assistants were club legends (is this starting to sound familiar) and actually didn't deserve to be sacked. But new ideas were asked for. The cats did alright the following year from memory.
Rahilly might be welcomed back as he has gained important external experience and success.

I hope he stays with us. Another asset worth protecting IMO.

Rucci wrote an article saying he was the hottest prospect in the country, playing in SA, but he’d never play for the crows.

IF you actually believe there was even a 1% chance Oliver could actually be traded. Melbourne in claim they didn't even have any trade discussions with anyone about Oliver. So no idea who we were "pushing hard" to.

98% of all trades are organised by agents, they do the leg work with encouragement from player and/or team
