Hall-Kahan (I can't say his name normally anymore - damn you Donza) & Rankin were the standouts for mine.

Hall-Kahan is crafty and made some really smart plays that showed great instincts. Also seemed like his opponents were nervy around him, which is a promising sign given that any senior opportunity for him would almost certainly entail a lot of forward pressure.

Rankin just looks more assured of late, like he knows what he's doing and what his role is and he's not just winging it hoping not to stuff up, but actually showing the confidence to make things happen and take risks. Good for him.

And I concur with others that Melican didn't really stand out to me much, but for a key defender that's probably a good thing if it means he's not doing much wrong. Third game back from injury now and I'd be more than OK with him coming into the back-line if McCartin doesn't get up.
I agree that HHK and Rankin were among our best - but I’m far from convinced that either could currently improve our seniors.

HHK is skillful, by physically still makes Lizard look like The Rock.

Rankin has only just started to click at VFL level. He’s not there yet.

I don't disagree. Wasn't calling for them to make their senior debuts (though I wouldn't object to Hall-Kahan replacing Hayward who I've had it with). We just talk a lot about the lack of quality in the VFL side, so I always try to give a shoutout to those that do deliver good performances.

I know we got beaten by a lot. But I thought there were better performances from our 1st/2nd year players. The 1st year players felt a bit more involved than the previous game. And guys like Warner, Rankin and Hall-Rankin seemed to be more proactive in going for a run or trying to make something happen in attack.

Once again playing part timers

You are evidently a glass half full kinda guy!

Like bedford I am barracking for a Borough win ......
Typical pair of bandwagoners.

Sydney reaches the GF "oh yes we've been supporters for years, I was born under the old Lakeside Oval stand, ya well my family wouldn't eat for a week so we could afford a ticket to the game" .....

Club having a rough trot and start barracking for the opposition.

Never would have happened in my day.

Lol

I'd often goto both South and Borough matches. Port have to keep winning games to survive .

Skilton , Johnson , Bedford , Haenen , Brice legends of both clubs , if the AFl didn't F the VFA this wouldn't happen

Warner , hhk amd wicks all a chance I presume
Warner's game was excellent I thought. 26 disposals in a losing team to a badly losing ruck is a really good return. Showed excellent ability in close, great acceleration out of trouble and a really good leap in marking contests. Also decent disposal.
