lol 😂 that was all over the Freo board (then West Coast board) yesterday.
Bit dismissive. Many of us don't have the time/inclination to dredge across the wastelands of BigFooty. The above post was the first I'd heard of it.

Far be it from me to defend Briztoon, but the impression I got from his post was him implying Morris got his Intel from Big Footy.

Unless I'm wrong, in which case damn you Briztoon!

Or the news on the Freo board was from the same source as Morris'.

Not defending the smarmy, sleazy arseclown (Morris, not briztoon:D) but the one thing he had going for him in the past was a plethora of decent sources.

4 years, damn. At the end of the day one has to look after themselves. Wonder how many years we have in front of him.
I would be guessing two by default, but this might see us bump it up to three if we want to keep him.

3 years at the Lions and continue to be a contender and THEN if wanting to switch over to West Coast when they are hopefully on the up or 4 years now and end up broken like Witherden, if we offer him three years and a competitive enough offer, I know which one I'd be taking, especially given that he is finally looking like he might well be a lock in this team finally.

Honestly I don't think it's a great fit for Dev or the Eagles but at the same time we don't seem a great fit for Dev.

Best outcome for the club IMO would be to give him a 1 year deal then re-assess once we have 2 Ashcrofts and a better idea how the youngsters are coming along

Are we not, though? It looked ok on Friday night. We're due for several retirements and a spot will most likely be there for him next season. I'd be very comfortable giving him 3 years.

I did think it was an improvement but in the end it was 13 disposals. For a 4th year midfielder you're expecting more.

He'll fall out of the midfield when Ashcroft returns and with Zorko hopefully retiring I don't think he's a suitable replacement.

Then there's another Ashcroft coming

There was talk around a couple of weeks ago suggesting that he was close to signing a 2 year extension.
But we may need to up that offer if we want to keep him.
3 as others have suggested may be enough to keep him.

The other Ashcroft isn't for another year though and at that point, Lachie will be 32/33 so will be slowing down. There will be room there for a Dev and/or Tunstill. Zorko and Lyons both likely gone by 2025 too. Dev looks quite a bit further along than Tunstill at this stage too and so obvious question marks on Tunstill. Three years for Dev is a low risk signing for potential high reward.

I mean it is a risk for Dev to stay but if he falls down the pecking order, I am sure WC will still be interested in 2025.

Even if you assume Neale only has 3 more seasons I still don't see a spot for him and think we can do better and I'm not sure we're seeing the improvement required to believe he'll be am AFL full time midfielder

Matho showed way more in his first 4 seasons

I am one of the big supporters of Dev, but I won't be offering 3.

2 makes it easy to adjust for both Dev and us, if he wants security he should grab the 4 from West Coast.

I think ultimately it will come down to if the club see him as a genuine long term prospect.
Imo he is best served as an inside mid and will be more likely to get a role in that position elsewhere.

if wce are offering 4 years at decent coin dev should take it and run imo. will likely only ever be fringe b22 here

wouldnt be suprised if the club has someone lined up as a free agent / trade. been very good at stopping our interest in rival players from leaking before trade period in recent times
+ Match payments, almost guaranteed to play every game for at least the next two seasons at WC, if not longer if Sheed and Yeo retire in a couple of years.

Any noise around Treloer at the Bulldogs? If their list has reached a tipping point, he might be getable for a modest trade price.

Would be a good Ashcroft fill in for a couple of seasons.

You realise his role at the moment is to be a defensive stopper and not chase the ball. Often he’s leading his man away from it, clearly what the coaches have asked him to do.

I’m sure if his role was to hunt the footy he’s be getting mid to high 20s each week as he does in the reserves.

I don’t agree how the coaches are using him but Dev is easily best 22 imo

I don’t necessarily rate Ben Keays but he could turn into the next Ben Keays and as long as we don’t fall down the ladder in the next couple of years, I am ok with that.

I would be disappointed to lose Dev, it might even come down to if he plays in our flag side this season.

What would he prefer, 2 years of contending for another flag or 2-4 years of rebuilding at the Eagles... I would not blame him if it ends up being purely a monetary decision but money is not everything.

Wouldn’t want to pay too much.

The life long memories of a Premiership with your Mates, I would take that every time.

Not a fan of Treloar, 31 before the start of next season and he is a bit of a butcher by foot... Dunkley would like him.

I'd prefer Bailey Smith.
