FWIW, Joey Montagna mentioned there was "noise" around Treloar (& Smith for that matter) on First Crack last night. Didn't specify any specific team or anything, although you'd think if he is keen on a move, given both his partners are up here now (girlfriend and Dunks), you'd imagine we might ask the question for a couple of years, to at least fill the Ashcroft position next year. All depends on price too though, I guess.

Not a fan of Treloar, 31 before the start of next season and he is a bit of a butcher by foot... Dunkley would like him.

I'd prefer Bailey Smith.

Isn't Treloar just Jarryd Lyons with less footy IQ and maybe a little bit more burst speed?

I did think it was an improvement but in the end it was 13 disposals. For a 4th year midfielder you're expecting more.

He'll fall out of the midfield when Ashcroft returns and with Zorko hopefully retiring I don't think he's a suitable replacement.

Then there's another Ashcroft coming
On the face of it 13 disposals isn't great but he would have ended up with two more if not for pretty shitty HTB calls and his role most of the night wasn't to go ball hunting. I think he should a bit on the weekend, and going forward he can improve on a couple of almost moments with some consistent games.

I still expect Dev signs an extension short of West Coast offering stupid coin.
The worry for us is that IIRC teams have to spend 80% of their salary cap, with some big names and by that token money earners retiring, they could flick him stupid coin for the first season or two knowing that not only will the cap increase soon but in a couple of years they might have some players worthy of demanding more money.

Not saying I agree but it wouldn’t surprise me if the club offered Treloar a 2 year deal, particularly if Zorko retired. The club has been willing to add older players to fill holes/offer leadership to help us stay in the top 4, Birchall, Fort and Gunston examples. With Ashcroft out for at least half of next season the club might like another best 22 mid. He has links to QLD with his partner and Dunks. Dimma may recruit him to the Suns. I’d personally rather keep and play Dev but could understand the club wanting some midfield insurance.

he has the most punchable head in footy, and refused to leave Victoria in his draft year, no thanks...
I couldn't care less what his head looks like, he is a bloody good player. Draft year thoughts can change, he is 22 years of age now.

We have traded in other players that a lot of people thought were tools and we fell in love with them eg Mitch Robinson, Luke Hodge... sentiments change quickly when said player is wearing your guernsey and performing well on field.

Tom Morris just reported Dev Robertson has a 4 year deal in front of him from the Eagles and an unspecified offer from us.

In addition hes picked up 25K followers on Insta since our last game.

His following adds marketing value to his contact. I can imagine the clubs offering a sweetener to the current offered deal.. Not a lot of money, but something to help him building his own brand.

Agree M Malice. I also think Bailey Smith is likely to leave the Dogs this year. I think it will be to another Vic club though. Possibly Geelong.

I’ve a Cats supporting mate that lives on the Bellarine Peninsula and he’s adamant, why IDK, that Bailey Smith is joining the Cats. He reckons it’s common knowledge but I’ve not heard it in the media so who knows.

It does seem to be a very widespread rumour but I wonder whether it is people looking at the fact that Bailey is an ambassador for cotton-on and putting 2 and 2 together.

Good point I concede if he got a haircut he would look less punchable in a lions jumper :) Honestly though would be one of my top 3 disliked players.

It’s been in the media, just not written about. Definitely been mentioned on media podcasts though.

I'd prefer we kept Lohmann over Robertson, if it came to that, FWIW. Personally think Lohmann has a higher upside (potentially), and not sure if Robertson will "get there". As others have said, if he ended up as Keays 2.0, and we continue to challenge, so be it (our fringe players will always be targeted).

Interested in other's thoughts?
