If Melbourne were actually willing to trade their best player with 7 years remaining on his contract at age 26 I'd be somewhat suspicious.

Aside from Caveat Emptor, if Melbourne are putting his name out then it would suggest they've returned to coming up with a creative means of getting at the Reid pick.

So 4 1st rounders becomes 2.
This is simply idiotic.
No player can be worth such a cost.
Especially a mid without pace or a huge tank(which I would have thought are non-negotiables for a top 5 mid in 2023)
McKercher offers both those attributes and a deadly left foot.
Watson is a small forward with freakish skills
We really need a truly damaging outside mid and a destructive small forward
Reid is neither of those things
McKercher + Watson > Reid
Absurd trade scenarios served up by flogs like Cooney are merely filler content created to occupy the big empty space that is trade radio

" big empty space inside his skull "

So we have now lost the following:

Ben Cunnington (ret)
Jacob Edwards (del)
Todd Goldstein (FA)
Aaron Hall (ret)
Daniel Howe (ret)
Ben McKay (FA)
Flynn Perez (del)
Phoenix Spicer (del)
Lachie Young (del)
Jack Ziebell (ret)

Any others?

If we're challenging in 4 years, which you'd hope so, is he going to then up and leave to put in 4-5 more years work at a new franchise to get to the same position?

Josh Kelly and Dusty would suggest no......Ablett already had a healthy dose of success.

The way some carry on here , we'd be lucky to 5 players left on the list 😅

we're upto 10 gone now.

Who rang Trade Radio and offered Phil Davis a job?

They're not putting his name anywhere.

It was a Trade Radio guy saying an unnamed list manager was tossing up ways to get him, and in true Trade Radio fashion, they've got half a day's content out of it.

We get to keep the 2 extra list spots for another year but I think we also increased our list with long-term injury additions so I think this means we can take 8 players through trade, national draft, pre-season draft and rookie draft. Sounds like we are in the market for at least 3 ready made players over the next couple of weeks so we would then take up to 5 players in the draft.
