Everything about a Clayton Oliver move diminishes North’s hand, as he ain’t going anywhere without Melbourne securing enough to trade up for Reid.

And if it were us to take him in, it would need to involve pick3, by which time you’d just give a little more and take Reid instead.

Everything about it is s**t. Stay away and pray he stays at the demons.

Or we continue to try and rebuild our footy club with young talent through multiple draft picks in which case it makes no difference to us

Yeh we get that.

While west coast hold pick 1 there is still a small chance they may not pick Reid. Which is why our hand is strong.

That changes if they give 1 to Melbourne

Ziebell, Cunners, McKay, Goldstein half our players on rookie contracts, there’s a boat load of cap space we have to spend.
Its somewhat about burning that money, about 6% of the cap. Its actually not sincerely about the money. Its about bringing in someone who has obvious behavioural disorders, with drinking to oblivion and doing bags before paid sponsor employment.

Also one of those contracts would of been Veterans cap.

It hurts in terms of getting Reid, but I think we're in a good spot as whoever trades for Oliver if it happens (Cats, Bombres or Crows) is off the board and our pick 14 comes in two spots earlier (assuming 5 and another top 10 go to WCE). That could mean we get a look at Murphy/Caddy/O'Sullivan/Wilson there at that pick. Also WCE or somebody else might want to trade up to pick 2 or 3 so we might be able to leverage another 1st or F1 out of it in a slide down, so lots of options.

Only should affect our chances to trade up for Reid, which IMO are pretty slim anyway. Could indirectly enhance our ability to improve our draft hand if the Weagles are big on Curtain and are looking to trade up to 2 with some of the capital they get from the GoDees for pick 1.

So pick 9 and next year prob pick 12 and Mc Adam mel prob won’t do that
Might have to put thilthorp

I think we'd have to be involved in any Reid trade, even if we aren't landing him. It's too hard of a sell for the Eagles to lose Reid and not pick up either McKercher or Curtin.

We're in a good position to pick up a pick in the 15-25 range should West Coast do a deal with a club like Melbourne or Hawthorn. If you can stomach sliding down the order and taking Watson or Sanders over Curtin, then it's a massive win.

Blues runner settles on new home

Carlton half-back Zac Fisher will meet North Melbourne coach Alastair Clarkson and conduct a medical at Arden St this week as his move away from the Blues grows closer.

Fisher had had to get his head around moving clubs to secure more opportunities given his love of Carlton, but is now expected to join North Melbourne.

That deal of at least four years – potentially with a fifth-year trigger – means the Roos will need to ensure he has no unforeseen issues with his body.

But barring something extraordinary, the 25-year-old will add another complimentary piece to the Roos midfield, which is also set to gain Sydney’s Dylan Stephens as part of its onball make-up next year.

Fisher went to school in Perth at Guildford Grammar School with close friend and current Roos full back Griffin Logue, who was drafted out of WA in the same season.

He also played football with Cam Zurhaar, who was a 2017 rookie, in Perth as a junior.

While the Blues are likely to be a finals contender in coming seasons, Fisher is buoyed by the suite of draft picks the Roos have been allocated as they try to rise up the ladder in coming seasons.

So while he has a contract for two seasons at the Blues, the chance to play some midfield, wing and half-back under Clarkson has proven an appealing prospect.

North Melbourne will hope to secure him for a late pick given he is surplus to requirements at the Blues.

Yay, somebody in the media has actually worked out what's going on
