Had a look based on the immortal giantroo ‘s usual great work - the recent form of the trade preacher looks better than most - broke Hamling at swans and Taylor Adams four days ago, so might be something in the Hayne thing
the trade preacher was also a day earlier on Coffield than anyone else

however, just note that his post about Hayne was 'north melbourne are interested ...' not that he was being shopped by GWS

North has been interested for a while. I did post about it a few months back. However it's the first time I've seen something posted linking us to it. I guess, it's a watch this space.

Has anyone though about about if we only get band 2 and end up with a mid teen pick instead of 3.Do we take what we have and make the best of it or throw everything at Reid.
I mean I’ve thought about it.

But band 2 is end of first round.

So how does a mid teen pick happen?

If he wasn't NM royalty, would he be playing? Let alone co-cap.

It is hard to say, we played with Hall, Ziebell and McDonald who aren't the best defenders and Sheezel who never played down back, you just can't have that many defenders who aren't natural defenders/have defensive instincts imo.

If there is legs to the Haynes rumour and the back 6 is more like...

FB: Fisher Haynes Corr
HB: Bergman Dawson/Logue Goater

I'd stick McDonald on the pine, he can at least play a number of different roles.

I can live with that, it doesn't have either McDonald or Sheezel down back. Sheezel was great on the rebound but was iffy defensively too, I think Goater and Bergman have at least done an apprenticeship as defenders at VFL level. I'd imagine Sheezel down back is just a transition phase and he will eventually be unleashed further up the ground, be it a wing or up forward.

I feel if he can't pin down a role that he excels at then it gets harder to find places to play him as the musical chairs starts to thin out. We could play Ziebell and others in different roles because our side has more holes than swiss cheese, the more good young talent you bring in then they are going to play sooner rather than later.

He is 28, contracted until 2026, I don't think he will play beyond that but Clarkson's hands are tied a bit by dumb decision of the past group and Lewis nailed it...

What I do know is that if Dodo splits 8 and then fails to land McKay, he'll be carried out in a box.
Unless his intention is to force him into the ND and take him with nominal pick 28 in a weak draft. Have to be confident that no one would want to take on his contract though. Would be a very Dodoro thing to do.

Anybody else heard the rumour that the delay in the Mckay deal is * are trying to find a way to trade up to the compo pick we get for him?
I think Twomey said they wanted our pick 3 to get ahead of the Hawks to pick up Zane Duursma.

I think your view is widely shared on here - for exactly the reasons you mention.

2,3,14,19 plus turning the 2024 assistant picks into a pick in the low teens this year would give us the opportunity to own this draft and fill a number of holes in our list.

Clearly you didn't watch Rawlings clip! We aren't going to take so many picks into the draft and our draft hand appears to be changing considerably btw now and then. So any scenario plotting seems pointless until we see what we have left in twelve days time

I remember the media at least linking us to Bianco in his draft year. Who would he be competing with for a spot Lazaro? Or better you think?

He isn’t really one who I think we’d target, mainly because we have enough undersize players as it is but I just think he deserves a list spot somewhere.

Need a lot of movement this trade period to cover off our defence.

Ziebel:
488 disposals at 81.8% DE

McKay:
232 disposals at 84.1% DE

Logue:
187 disposals at 80.2% DE

Ziebel's weight of numbers is going to take some replacing. McKays DE shocked me to be fair

Bonar needs to have a breakout year and take Ziebel's defensive spot by the throat.

Draft combine year he had the highest vertical leap, 2nd fastest 20m sprint, 10th in the agility run & 5th in the goal kicking test (25/30). So he has (or had) elite attributes.
Just goes to show that statistics can mean sfa

A lot of anxiety here about defenders. I think that we would be looking at something like this...

FB: Corr - Phillips/Logue - Archer/Lmac
HB: Curtin/Reid - Comben - Fisher

Thats not bad.
I don’t have much confidence in Comben getting on the ground as he’s always injured and when he does get on the ground he needs to improve a hell of a lot imo
