Quite simply don't think we can afford to look blokes like Melican, Fisher and Menegola in the mouth

Menegola would just churn up and down a wing for a season or two, instantly becoming one of our better four quarter runners and ensuring it's not just Bailey busting his arse every week

Fisher would make our half back line look quicker and better skilled than it currently is, as well as adding in a left footer that isn't Luke McDonald

Melican is a meat shield but in the absence of a 29 year old Daniel Curtin or Griffin Logue with two intact ACLs, he'll do for a few seasons

If we think those blokes aren't cracking our best 44 we are kidding ourselves. Absolutely kidding ourselves

Our bottom 15-20 (ok maybe 10-15 whatever I’m not checking) players are genuinely shit. There are upgrades to be had everywhere. A few B graders from other clubs would look like A graders at ours

couldn't agree more

It's not even that the bottom 15-20 are wet dog vomit. It's that even the good players arent ready to play four quarters. Phillips, Wardlaw, Goater etc all routinely play like 65-75% game time. Don't underestimate the role fatigue of those players who are out there playing 85-95% TOG when they probably shouldn't be is playing on decision making and kicking etc

Yes we all want upgrades on Turner and Hall and Bonar etc, award winning butchers and cats though they are. But the Menegola Fisher Melican law firm plays a very important role in that they are experienced, hardened bodies that can withstand 85-95% TOG and still make good decisions, offsetting the errors made by our younger talented kids who aren't ready from a fitness standpoint

Agree on Melican and Fisher.

I too have suggested Menegola in the past months, but I’m assured by many his body is cooked these days (honestly I haven’t seen him play since last year).

If we get two of Ralphsmith, Stephens and Henry, we will suddenly be looking ok as far as the wings go.

Tucker will be better too if he can get an uninterrupted pre-season

Absolutely. Anyone that says there's no point replacing our spuds with other spuds isn't paying enough competition to other clubs depth. I look at other bottom 10 sides like Crows, Bombres and Suns and each week I think that 4/4 of their emergencies would be in our best 22s.

People sooking over a 5 year deal to get a player out?

Find me some alternative options to get players out of well performing clubs to join a side who’s 18th and won 11 out of 90 games?

Absolutely kidding yourself if can’t accept that you either have to pay overs in $ or add extra years for security.
Yep, if in 3 or 4 years if it is considered one of our major list issues that we have Zac Fisher with a year or two left on his contract and he isn't close to our best 22, I would be absolutely ecstatic!

There isnt.

Twomey was pretty firm on it this week.

GWS aren’t in cap strife so have no reason to salary dump Haynes if he moves.
Except that his contract is something like $1.1m next year. :grimacing:

Its not like he's still AA quality. Surely if he's coming to Arden, there would be at least a second and third rounder coming too.

Given he's close to the end, its hard to understand why he'd smooth that out over multiple years if he didn't have to.

Twomey seemed to think there’s a good chance pick purchasing will be coming in for this trade period.

He named us as one of the main beneficiaries of it does.
