If we managed to get Reid with 2 and that late first rounder it would be the steal of the draft yet some fans are still going to think they were personally robbed.

That is very interesting. If it pans out that way then I’m not sure how we get the points for Sanders without pick 16. As a top 8 pick, we would need @1500-2000 points and we have no pick 16 and no second rounders, so our total points are only @1000 points. We either need to hang on to 16, trade someone of value and/or get a second rounder back from WC.

I have a feeling they will change the NGA rules back to what they used to be and then give us sanders for free as compensation.
Lessening the blow for opposition clubs while giving North what they want.

20% NGA discount makes it 1240pts.

After our first two picks (2 and 16), we have about 700pts. The difference is only about a 3rd rounder.

Unless I’m mistaken… I’m pretty sure if we get NGA rights to Sanders, and we don’t have enough points, it just creates a deficit for us next year.

So say we’re 500 pts short. And say we finish 17th next year. Our first pick drops 500pts, so instead of having pick 2, we get pick 4.

It’s madness. We are in no position to be missing out on an Edwards, Wilson, A. Reid, Philactedes et al. When each could fill a position of need.

How are we going to do that if we can match bid on Sanders? He will likely get a high bid.

Eagles have more chance of keeping Reid long term than we do keeping Curtin imo
U risk having a top 2 pick leave when about to contend all for keeping a spec pick 16 which is no guarantee

Reid wants to remain in Victoria so don’t agree with that and Curtin hasn’t said that he wouldn’t move.
If we’re contending in the next 3-4 years I’d be hopeful that by then Curtin would be invested in us.
All I know is that we shouldn’t be giving up a first rounder to help them out when we are in a pile of sh!t ourselves.
Even if we get assistance from the league, we should be banking as many early picks as we can, while we can.
