I hope we pick Curtin with our first pick. 195 cm, 93 kg - looks like a ready to go AFL player. Hard at the contest, great tackler, beautiful left boot, strong overhead, key utility (defense, forward, heck even midfield), looks like a solid leader too. Everything we need and more. I feel like he there's still a few aspects of his game that can be improved a lot more like being fast and on his feet (he slows down a bit around the ball sometimes) so really just quickness of feet but maybe that's because he's such a big player. But hey, you can't ask for much more from a key position player. He's an interstate boy ofc (WA) but I think in terms of needs, I'd pick him over anyone else this draft.

We'd want to use our cap space to our advantage. I can't see us using it on another half back flanker. Think key position players and small/medium forwards.

Gresham a possibility but he certainly hasn't earned the pay-day he'd be chasing if he's exploring his options. Certainly has the potential to be an elite player, so we'd have to look at it.

Edit: Looking at WC tonight, and depending on how a couple of teams (Swans, Blues, GC) finish the year, there might be a few carcasses to pick over for some decent players.

The Hun has Gresham on 650-750k. Yeesh he is getting paid 100k per goal.

Views on Flanders as a target? He was pretty good yesterday and hasn’t really got a clear run at it at suns. From Gippsland originally. Issue may be is we have a lot of inside mids on list.

ITK Suns poster said you offered a big contract at him last year, but he decided to see how this year played out.

Out of contract now & Suns haven’t opened extension talks with him… and may decide not to with Humphrey signing long-term.

Definitely gettable. But needs plenty of inside midfield minutes to thrive.

Realistically, we should sign one of Doedee, Himmelberg or McKay. We need to sure up our defense, we keep getting belted every other week.

If he's available, I hope we get him too.
Might be a slow burn to get him up to speed, but reckon he would end up being the MVP of the draft (not the best, but the player with the most value on field - think Hodge vs Judd)

Seems like a Pavlich type to me. Which is awesome.

He's flying under the radar big time. Looks a bit like Jordan Dawson to me, but bigger (and maybe a little slower). I think he has one of the biggest upsides in this year's crop. The best keys all fit in the top 10 imo - Walter, Curtin, Caddy. I expect Walter to go at Pick 2 (considering Harley is 1 and Pick 1 isn't traded), hopefully we get Curtin at 3, and then Caddy will likely go to Sydney if we don't pick him up.

Seems more like a rough type to me, but I meant the Hodge vs Judd 2001 debate.

Hodge the MVP, providing the most value to his side for longer, Judd the better player of the 2
Judd was unbelievable at West Coast

Not so much at Carlton

One most likely won’t play again until 2024. One is purely a forward. And the other is just a witches hat in a football jumper.

There just isn’t the free agents available to shore up our defence.

Kosi to full back. Frosty to VFL. DGB also fb.
I don’t think Kosi is good enough as a fb. It’s forward or bust for him.

DGB just isn’t ready yet. Especially to hold down FB. He isn’t strong or fit enough yet.

While it would be nice to replace Frosty. He’s what we have to work with down there. Especially with Sicily out.

How long has it been since we picked up a key forward with a top 10 pick? Buddy and Rough, right? I think most others were outside the top 10.

Gee I'd love getting excited over a young key forward prospect coming through. Ramsden is brilliant, and has talent, but I'd love a KPF at our first.

i would love Watson or Delean (who I understand we have spoken to) AS WELL AS Caddy, Curtin, Duursma. I hope we can get two top eight picks.

Some of his movements, especially his kicking action on the run, remind me of J.Roughead.
What is his forward craft like? Seems to be playing mostly as a mid in this clip.
