Chances of Hawthorn doing that to a young First Nations player with kids and who has requested a trade home in the current climate: absolutely nil. As seemed inevitable from the moment he wouldn’t sign a new deal, unless he chose the Dockers, we will have to accept whatever garbage West Coast offers. It sucks but is what it is
Why? WC will pick him up there anyway. He's screwed us by picking them over Freo, as he knows he can walk there via the PSD.

This is big business.

If they throw a F4 at us, I'm walking him.

Set a precedent for future trades.

No more free lunches. It stops now.

Why are you all melting down? A few things to consider:
First it’s what some of us have said all along would happen as we have no leverage. We tried our best to keep him and we hope he and the eagles deal with us in good faith anyway but especially given that. But ultimately it’s a hope.
Second the comment says he is prepared to go via the pre-season draft not that he wants to. Given he wants to go to the eagles I am sure he is “prepared” to get there via pick 1! it is not his concern nor should it be.
Last a third round pick is naturally between 37-54 so could be pick 38 that the eagles hold which is about fair value. I believe this will be the outcome and it will down dons early on.
Lol nobody is melting down. Exactly what I’ve said all along would happen seems to be happening which is totally fine and expected. He’s willing to go PSD and we have very little leverage. There seemed to be a narrative a few weeks back that he’d only leave if we got a good deal, which was fanciful.

It’s called political correctness and we need to tread carefully right now, an besides we are trying to improve relationships and create good will for the future.

If all was well at the Hawks I’d agree with you 100%

Agree the narrative was fanciful. he wants to go and he will get there, my main point was I doubt he has even uttered those words to anyone. I expect it is a clickbait journo add but technically true.

West Coast will still want to keep relations positive if they can. Reckon it’ll be a 3rd rounder or a pick shuffle.

I share the frustration but it just won’t happen. We will accept whatever garbage West Coast offer

Tyler Brockman is worth a pick in the 20's but we might have to compromise for a pick in the 30s imo, i wish he would stay, but family comes first.
Would happily accept a swap of F2s + WCE 4th for Brockman.

In: WCE F2 + Pick 57 (182 points)
Out: Brockman + F2

Good will? We've been bent over for years re these types of deals.

Fk the good will.

Don’t forget political correctness, Hawks will be keen to put the right foot forward.

Otherwise I’d be a fan of the psd as well, makes us the second spot from top.

Ok this is the latest.

It looked like Essendon had him before we offered an extra year.

Sammy is keen cos he’s a free hit & fills a massive void.

It could change again.

Just saw a clip from this evening’s AFL360. Robbo making some heartfelt case that McKay should consider what type of player he wants to be remembered as and to not just take the best offer in front of him.

Interesting timing that we get this update and then a couple hours later an Essendon supporting journo is saying that lol

If West Coast want to be jerks over Brockman then so be it.

Just file it away for next time there’s a VIC player who wants to come home to us.
No, you immediately go hard at one of their players who demands a trade to us.

I remember when GWS poached Griffen from Bulldogs and they where low balling their offer as you can't really force a guy to stay who wants out.

But the dogs flipped it and demanded Boyd which GWS laughed at until Boyd told them to trade him.

We've had a long time to pick a West Coast player to target.

Exactly, lets shortlist a few to target. Maric is clearly on this list but will we be willing to pay overs to tempt him across given he is only few months into his AFL career. He is contracted for next yr.

No idea of Waterman's abilities but he is ready to move so can be targeted separately if we are interested.

Who else would Hawks fan suggest.

Liam Ryan would be nice but I think all that noise a few weeks back was nothing but a storm in a teacup

Still rather take 16 premierships than 2 I guess
Lol - . There have been 2 years in the history of the VFL/AFL where there was no final played to decide the winner. 1897 and 1924. Both won by Essendon. With you not having won a final for 6955 days and counting your only hope to get to 17 is for the AFL to change back to a no final system. And you won 6 of those before the Hawks even joined the VFL. Since we joined we have won 13 to your 10. And then you had to squeeze 4 premierships in 1942, 1946, 1949 and 1950 in a heavily compromised competition with many players away on active war duty or died in it. What a s**tstain of a club.

If i hear good will one more time i am going to throw up, it is the biggest load of BS.

Show many the instances where being 'easy to work with' has paid off.

Not suggesting you go around trying to screw people over but it is no different to life, if you let people walk over you they will.

We will get bent over on the Brockman deal because we have 0 leverage, this was clear months ago. I totally agree though, don't accept a token pick, if is not something of use walk him to the draft and file it away.
