Signed sealed and delivered. McKay to Hawks 100% done. 6 year deal.
For a guy who is basically James Frawley but 10cm taller that’s a significant commitment.

He’s a defensive stopper, who you don’t want kicking the footy (if possible).

Better than Blanck and Frost, but hardly elite. He will clearly play regularly, but is simply going to allow those around him change their roles a bit.

If this is the case I feel cancelling my membership.

Blanck takes the second key
Sicily roles to the third

We have no Frost brainfades

The disrespect Frawley still cops here is insane. A 10cm taller Frawley is basically a complement.

Allowing time for Blanck to develop while not taking the best forward each week is a huge win. I am bullish on Blanck developing.

I didn’t say Frawley wasn’t a decent player did I?

We all agree he was great at defending, but he chip kicked sideways whenever possible because he wasn’t flash by foot.

We gave up the picks, there was no slide. The other picks were for JOM.
But agree doing that trade was gold.
We don’t need more bronze.

Yeah I remembered it wrong - didn't realise the pick swaps weren't directly related to the Weddle transaction. However - overall I am happy with the slide from that trade period with what we got out of it.

We could offer Sam Taylor a little bit more money than this next year, when he's out of contract.

Go read North's GameDay threads, and you'll see the same frustration with McKay as Hawks supporters have with Frost.

Except there is zero chance of sam Taylor leaving. Mckay is best available and doesn't cost any assets plus he will become a better player at hawthorn.

It didn't exactly sound like a glowing compliment for either player.

As long as McKay knows and is willing to play his role, it is one of the reasons i liked Frawley so much.

If he can just lock down his opponent and continue being a good interceptor that is enough. We have the speed and ball users down back to accommodate him.

All I said was it was a big commitment, and yes I don’t think McKay is an elite defender.

Neither was Frawley by the time he came to us.

Role player? Yes.
Elite defender? No.

I’m not against it (negative) but I’m not overly excited (neutral) about him coming on board if he does.
