Wtf do the Eagles have over Brockman that he’d overlook a better deal from Freo?

Just seems so irrational from him given all the boxes ticked by going with Freo - including a better chance at some level of success given the Eagles rebuild.
Let's imagine for a minute you're an AFL player looking to return to Victoria and you have interest from both Geelong and Hawthorn, with Geelong having the larger and longer contract on offer. You nominate Hawthorn.

Why are you being so irrational?????!!!

AFL players just like us average joes are allowed to have preferences to where they want to go.

Trade week radio saying Connors met with Sam this morning re Bailey Smith.

If I had a choice of playing AFL in WA, I would not even consider Dockers.
As much as I very quietly barrack for them in Derby games, they are a shite club.

Speaking of Bateman, I had a beer with Chance last night. Had good chat with him. Nothing footy related.
For those interested he’s going very well, looking fit & happy
Cracker bloke, my son wore number 10 the whole time he was at Hawthorn. Got a photo and jumper signed, very happy dad educating him in the role indigenous player have at our great club. Still got the jumper only 100 sizes too small , son now 6’4!

You were told to buckle up!

My gut feel of what happens now is:

  • WCE retain pick 1
  • NM retain picks 2 and 3
  • We retain pick 4 and trade F1 + F2 for B Smith

Draft as follows:

1) WCE - Reid
2) GCS - Walter
3) NM - McKercher
4) NM - Duursma
5) HAW - Watson
6) WB - Curtin
No to the Smith trade. That means that next year we wouldn't enter the draft until pick 40 plus. As a bottom 4 side that would be diabolical and next year's losses would be very depressing 😰

And rarely enforceable for employees.

Look mate I don’t want to get into a pissing contest here but I can confirm absolutely enforceable… having been on two occasions involved in said enforcement, and being stymied in moving roles once because of such a clause.

Upshot is that a general statement that any employee can go anywhere is incorrect due to restraint clauses.
