Let’s say it gets to Pick 5 in the draft (after matched bid on Walter).
West Coast says we’ll give you Pick 23 + a Future First so they can select Curtin.
Do you take it or just use the pick?

Would be disappointed to lose Ryan. Hope we are able to convince him to stay.

Use the pick. 23 just gets eaten on a McCabe bid. Their F1 would be good, but we need talent in now, can't defer a year.

Yeah 23 gets eaten by McCabe but that means you keep other picks that could be used on role players.
I like Curtin but being from WA makes me nervous. Watson also has a few queries so high up. So gambling on a number 1 pick could be an interesting (but unlikely) strategy.

If Brisbane are willing to offer Ryan a 3 year deal I wouldn't blame him for asking to leave. That's huge for a late MSD pick.
I just hope we can negotiate a decent trade for him.

Even if it was for pick 30 in this draft I wouldn’t do it In this weak draft.
I’ve seen enough in his first 2 games that with another 2 pre seasons and 35 games under his belt that he would be a very handy player as we’re approaching finals football

Pretty simple, if brisbane can't satisfy us in a trade we hold him to his contract , who cares if he has been offered 3 years and It's life changing. Come back day 1 pre season and work your way to a 3 year extension from the club that gave you a chance .
If I had to guess then maybe with Smith staying put (for now) we’ve been told by WC to hold firm and if North don’t comply with pick 2 +3 then we land pick 1. The only problem with waiting for North we likely don’t land Smith for the upcoming season as they’ll wait until the draft.

Yeah I'm saying that under the assumption that Ryan will want to leave for that offer, and request a trade.
