Would we want to play Marshall and Darcy together? When we had Ryder he was very handy up forward and had a great set shot. Marshall is neither of those things. Either we'd be trading Marshall out or I don't think this is a good idea

Marshall isn't a #1 ruckman imo, he just doesn't have the tap craft ATM. Yeah he's great around the loose ball but a ruckman first and most important job is to put it down the throat of our players, he just doesn't do that enough.

I think when he was paired with Ryder he was arguably the best 2nd ruck in the comp.

I'd be looking for a #1 ruck and have Marshall play off the bench and fwd line.

i dont think there will be room in the forward line with King , The Hammer , Membrey , Owens , Pou , Butler , Higgins , Sharman ,Gresham and who knows else from the young kids we havent tried yet who have been injured .

Not sure why people are suggesting trading out Marshall who has been good all year. Just overreacting after a poor performance from the entire team imo.

We need someone who can match muscle with forwards like Tex and Hawkins, Howard is good athletically but struggles with direct 1v1 contests.
So finding a player who can beat those gorillas would be ideal, hopefully Van Es can be that one day

They just brought in jackson obviously- so if they see the writing is on the wall I don't reckon they would say no to a very good offer (2 firsts with a second back).

Let's not forget, the plan is for our firsts to be ~15+ for the next couple of years

Why would we pay that for a ruck when we have one?

Seems like a ridiculous idea to be honest when there are clearly more pressing needs

Plenty of worse rucks have won flags than him in that time. We have an average midfield and have for some time.

How many premiership sides have had a genuinely elite ruck over the last 10 years?

I think the difference is that we don't have an elite midfield to cover over some of the deficiencies. We really need to get someone like Parish in if we are going to have a midfield without a hit out to advantage winner.

All I know is we just got smashed by 10 goals by a side who has spent a few years in the bottom 4 and they have flown past us. Ross Lyon has a game plan that can hide some deficiencies but he's not a magician.

A positive start has started to fall over and we look like the same side that fell away at the half way point last year. It's not like we have half a dozen young guns ready to walk into the side.

Honestly I thought things were different this time but all of the positivity has started to seep out. I feel like a Carlton supporter. Now I hate all of the players and don't care if we trade anyone.

My keep list is Owens, Phillipou, Caminiti, Higgins, King, Wilkie, Steele, Windhager, Van Es, Sinclair, Keeler, Hotton, Sharman, Clark and Byrnes. The rest are all tradable or delist. Can't be bothered paying them with their half arsed effort every year. Keep a few as bridges to the next generation and cull hard. They are imposters.

Wes be much better trying to improve our midfield than spending big to swap rucks when it's going to make littke difference.

how do you think the following players will go by the end of the season , delisted traded or what ?
Billings , Dmac , Highmore , Connolly , Jones , Coffield , Cordy , Hayes , Allison ?

Billings & Cordy have contracts.
Hopefully DMac & Jones get back and display what we have missed.
Hayes has been stiff and would give him another year on what we've seen.

Gone:
Highmore, Allison, Connolly, Bytel, Sharman

Traded: Clark or Gresham.

We need to evaluate how good Pou, Windy, and Owens will be as mids and then move to either recruit another mid and push someone else out or persevere with them.
I can't remember the last time we took a full time mid with our first pick in the draft (Nas was a winger so I won't count him). Its about time we start actively improving on the mids.

Yeah agree with the keep list anyone else can go if it’s to our advantage

Last 3 weeks have been horrible
Even the Port game get them at Marvel lose the 4 points and $700 k

when you have alot of very young players that have been playing so well you are going to have a patch where they struggle and we lose . I dont think its the end of the world .
