We certainly need to make some significant moves if we want to become a Top 4 Team with any of our current list.

This may of may not work. But just using the draft alone is not going to work either. Especially as we have no FS free hits to help kick things along.

So we need to make some significant list changes.

You would imagine cutting deeply means we are bringing in a few from other clubs too.

Skunk may be seen as yesterday's man, has been a great battler for us, but that is a young exciting forward line.

The only concern is that Butts is our most experienced forward if Skunk goes. I also question his value on the open market. Is all that experience worth giving up for a third rounder?

That’s what they will weigh up.

There are a few factors at play aswell.

The major one is the opinion of Ross.

The questions has to be asked: is there a contracted player we are targeting via Gubby and sos etc.

I rate Membrey.

I certainly wouldn’t want to throw him away.

But moving Membrey on fits with everything else I’ve mentioned especially the “strategy” part of our list management.

Just wait and see I guess.

It’s a big pool we could move on.

Yes hopefully. Flanders ideal as is the right age profile to go with our good young crop, and the type of player we need. And Ben could play a long time too (just is there any injury concern). Both are quality.

Would rather keep membrey. He’s heart and soul

Higgins is heart and soul. Membrey is a reminder of the fragile Richo years. Great at times, neutered at others. He'd be a good fit for a club with loads of kids who want a mature reliable presence in the forward line, particularly if the team plays slow.

I think you are looking at what people are saying and focusing heavily on the individual parts as opposed to the bigger picture - which to be fair can only be looked at once its all be said and done in October.

My opinion is that I think the club thinks our current incarnation is mid table mediocrity - otherwise why cut hard?

There is more then enough green shoots to back Toce and Roughead at the draft - Ross is a big fan of the drafting in the last 24 months.

I don't believe they subscribe to weak draft good drafts etc.

From memory. last years was an elite crop - the year before was weak. But NWM Owens Windy make it look every bit as good as Phillipou and the rest of the crop.

Yep, I actually agree with that. I think it was a response to a comment that we largely avoid a poor draft.

Not me , I'm ruthless, sick of being the whipping boy team.
Any classy players under 27 are welcome, we need to get 5 years out of who every we trade for or its a waste of time

Nope, no or B group. He was outrunning everyone.
The repeat sprints at the end of pre season with all players, he was at the front. He has a huge tank.

We are not mid table but 5th. Getting better players doesn't keep you mid table and how do we get better when 6 of the top ten in this draft are already taken and there are no highest quality mids by the time our pick comes along?

Unless Norf get handouts then I think it’s over blown. Not convinced that Read and Rogers sneak top 10 yet, but if so, it’s late. Who are you counting other than the 3 GCs and perhaps a pick 3 freebie for Norf (I can’t see them getting both pick 3 and Sanders).

Might be the year to nab a gun CHB, see what we can find in the 20s for mids and then saddle up for next years mid heavy draft. There will be options without paying up for other teams waste.

Four weeks left of the season with everything to play for, Membrey hasn’t had a chance to show the coaching group first hand what he’s capable of.

Someone leaks to Twomey the thought of Membrey being shopped around.

Watch him have a blinder of a month to show his worth and hopefully push us to a finals campaign.

I just don't see it as a very progressive move. He doesn't have any real value and you wouldn't think he's be on a massive salary either.

Moving on Dougs makes sense as it clears up some salary and it's definitely a position that we can improve on/ have good depth in. If Membrey goes, you'd have to think they have someone lined up to fill that void, and the only name I can think of is Georgiades as a possible upgrade.

What void? What is Membrey's specific role in our current team?
