Looking at Cals Phantom form guide and it looks like our pick will end up at 17. Not a lot of joy in Mids that far back. More likely a key defender of halfback. Riley Hardeman sound like he might suit in that range. Anyone know anything about him?
Quick. But I find him quite sloppy at times. Tholstrup, Simpson, Windsor?

Good defenders who go later or miss the draft because they are shortasses.
In the case of Wilkie picked up later due to remarkable form at state level.

Wilkie is great , but remains too short.

Similarly Hayes is a good ruck forward, but is too short.
Can you remind me who was named full back for this year's all Australia side?

Also were McGovern, Aliir, Grimes, Andrews all too short too?

Gives 100% repeat efforts and tackling and can find the footy. He looks ok, bit of a jimmy Webster mould. Not sure about his midfield capabilities at AFL level.

I think there was one where he tapped it upward , ran over and grabbed it, kicked it up high, ran across and got it , then kicked it into the forward 50.
Must have been wondering what all those other red black and white stooges were doing.
Haha. Yeah he marked his own ball. Was down the Ponsford end where I was. Thing of beauty it was. Peak 2023 Saints midfield in one play.

Goddard too.
They are hit or miss for sure.

Joyce actually our best "developed" tall defender.
Forgot about Hugh Goddard pick 21 2014 draft along with Paddy McCartin pick 1. Key posts for the next 10 years we hoped. sigh

Interesting Ollie Murphy is projected around 10-15 range 200cm tall defender from Sandy dragons. Saints supporter also. Will be discussed for sure if he gets to our pick.

My hunch is they have another player in mind to replace Adams on the list. Possibly a trade.

Surprised they let Peris go. Really surprised. But they are the experts, I’m just a supporter.

Also surprised that Highmore hasn’t been axed. Maybe he will be traded to another club.
Highmore's likely in limbo depending on what happens with Coffield, wouldn't be surprised if a few players are in that position

Its all on match ups ,King , Hawkins , Wright , Daniher , Lobb are the types you need a tall key defender like Whitering ,Taylor , Pearce , Howard who can at least match with kg as well as height.
May is only 1.93m but is over 100kg so can bullock the big guys around.

It doesn't actually make a difference if a F/S we were never going to get goes in front of us or behind us.
What can make a difference is if they Suns trade pick 4 to another club, which is then used to get another player for another team.

Essentially we can't get Walter, Read, Croft , Rogers, McCabe.

If the first round picks stay in place and it goes like Twomey says there aren't many mids for us, but there aren't even at pick 12.
If Gold coast trade their pick one to another team, their pick 4 goes back in front of us.

1 West Coast - Reid.
2 Gold Coast Matched Bid. -Walter
3 Hawks - Duursma
- Gold Coast pick gone back due to Walter.
4 Melbourne - McKercher ( Melbourne get him... i can taste vomit ).
5 GWS - Watson
6 Geelong - Curtin
7 Essendon - Sanders
8 Crows - Caddy
9 Gold Coast Matched Bid -Read
10 Bulldogs - O'Sullivan
11 Bulldogs - Croft F/S Matched bid
12 Gold Coast matched Bid - Rogers
13 Sydney - Murphy
14 Saints - Wilson.
15 Hawks matched bid - McCabe.
16 Roberts HBF
17 Leake HBF
18 Hardeman HBF

But its possible that both Gold Coast and Bulldogs trade out their picks but if Bulldogs do , its not worse than it is now.
If Bulldogs keep their first rounder and someone bids early on Croft, we go up a place.

I'm not so keen on Wilson, an outside mid/wing, given that we'll be getting Henry.

Maybe we can turn one of those HBF's into a mid.

Really want us to find a way to get that GC pick ( insert into pick 4 ).

Can i remind you that the All Australia side is a figment of our imagination. He doesn't have to play on Tom Hawkins for the AA's.

Peris was of course quick.

And he seemed to tackle well; really well.

But from what I could tell he struggled to get possessions and to kick goals. And I’m not sure that scenario was trending sufficiently upwards.

Disappointed for the lad because he seemed like a great kid with a lot of energy.

But I just think those closest to him, who witness what he offers on a daily basis, have concluded he just won’t make it.

A shame but probably the correct call.
From what I saw at training your summary is 100% correct. Seemed a great lad who wanted to learn but just wasn’t up to it. Skills not great.

F
Having an autistic daughter who is a functioning 28 y.o adult and a professional lawyer, it doesn't matter what he perceives or not, his carers, be they parents or others should be mentoring him.

We let our daughter have a free hand re SM, but we constantly talk to her about the effect it can have on her neuro diverse reality.
Also the abuse and insults he spews out is not typically a neuro diverse trait. You can have autism and still be a complete dickhead.
For me just no need to mention him with a picture. Has no relevance at all to this forum.

What did Jack Bytel ever do to deserve so many fan boys?
Highmore has interest from Kangaroos, and Campbell has been told that we are waiting on other potential list moves to decide on his future.
Billings and Clark are gone imo. We want Coff to stay but I’ve heard are only currently offering a 1 year deal with a games trigger for a second, hence why other clubs are sniffing around.
Offer Coff two. He’s got what it takes. I’m taking a risk on him. So many others to delist/trade first.
Not like he’ll get us a great pick after the last two years - much more worth it to us to stay.

Looking at WCE they are a total mess - there team is full of players way past there prime on big money and very little talent coming through.
Yeo -Darling - McGovern , Gaff even Kelly who is 29 but has still got some good football left in him.
With pick 1 and 19 they will need a hell of a lot more than that to improve.
