It was only 12 months ago we were getting the plaudits with pretty clear stats saying when Marshall and Ryder both play we win alot more then we lose.

i think you could play both Goldstein and Marshall.

Infact, i think it gets King out of Full Forward and you can sit one ruck resting deep. You can let Caminiti or Sharman roam around.

lots of ways to cut this.

i like it.

I'm not a huge ruck fan, the less the better unless you have absolute stars or brutes. Just a bunch of genetic freaks lumbering around taking up space.

If Goldstein played last saturday .....

that's a very different game. We don't get bullied as badly as we did in the middle.

I'd still rather some inside extractors. If Dunstan had been in we probably would have played better. Marshall couldn't have done much more but they could grab the ball and feed it out and go. We laboured for every touch.

Matt Flynn & Jordan Sweet are younger Ruck options.
Ned Moyle would be fantastic, but see him taking over from Witts.

Sweet is a star in the VFL, I'd definitely look at him or Moyle.

Didn't you mention Ned Moyle recently?

Yeah, he actually has talent so would be worth developing. Marshall needs an understudy that is ready to walk straight in. Marshall does a knee in preseason and we look very thin and he's probably got 3 to 5 years left in him at best anyway. Heath looks okay but Moyle is ready to play tomorrow.

GWS midfield would of carved us up even more with slow Dunstan in, don't think he would of handled Tom Green either.
Dunstan's done an ACL, think he's done & dusted.

we liked him. Mentioned him in PM a few days back

MASSIVELY linked to Port today

we also really like Moyle

He'd be good at Port. I watched their VFL game last Saturday. He plays a really aggressive game and looks like he should be playing regular footy at the highest level.

Jake Arundel for the Hawks as a small forward. He has something. I watched a few of their games late this year and every time he looks a step up from the VFL and he's from the Ammos. Could be a real Milney story.

We don't need a ruckman who is clearly past it - time to improve our list not make it worse by getting a guy at the end of his career who may not even be able to get through preseason.

Shaun Mannaugh as well, if we want ready made small forwards.

Melb will get pick 4 from Gold Coast , reason being Grundy will be offloaded to Swans which will give them pick 11 which they will then bundle up with pick 15 and 24 --- which will give them all the points needed to grab there 3 Academy players they could all be in the first round.
11 , 15 , 24 , 28 , 31 , 42 , 47 - they lose pick 4

Then again GWS could come into the picture with pick 6 and 12

We just can't match what they can offer draft wise.
I think throwing in 11 with 15 & 24 is way overs for pick 4. GC would be happy with 34.

Melbourne are definitely in the box seat. Could only imagine a scenario where North could make an offer that would play far better into GC's hands

We need Tom Green ideally. I don't think it was pace on the inside, it was clearance work and then quickly getting it to the outside where we offered no resistance. If you can get your own clearance and the ball out to Hill or Nas or any of our other pacy outsiders we were in the game. A 50 year old plain tap ruck might feed you 3 or 4 cleaner touches.

Dunny is done for sure. Pointing it out as why Goldstein doesn't make sense.

Hey Gringo, did you notice Kai Windsor, brother of Caleb, any good?

I think you should do your research.

2019 - Sandiland Darcy Lobb Jones
2018 - Sandilands Darcy Jones Apeness
2017 - Sandilands Clarke Griffin
2016 - Sandilands Clarke Griffin Apeness Hannath
2015 - Sandilands Clarke Griffin Hannath
2014 - Sandilands Clarke Griffin Apeness Hannath
2013 - Sandilands Clarke Griffin Moller Hannath
2012 - Sandilands Clarke Griffin

and Lloyd Meek was on the list for a few of those seasons.

thats ALOT of ruckmen or Ruck/Forwards.

Ross likes to use 2.

All he had with us this year was Marshall, Campbell and Heath... Keeler at an absolute push.

Night and Day difference in quality on his list this season as opposed to any year he had at Freo.

Last time around with us as we contended.

Stanley Mcevoy King Gardiner Kosi
It has to be remembered the last 4 yrs Sandilands only averaged around 7 games a year so they had to carry a few ruckmen just to cover for him.

King Gardiner 09

Gardiner Mcevoy Kosi 10

Sandilands Clarke 13'

Ross Lyon Grand Final sides

Ross Loves having 2 rucks.
Footy isn't played that way anymore unless the 2nd ruck can play forward. Goldstein in over 300 games had shown little forward and Marshall second half of the year was the best ruck in the league, i wouldn't want him more forward then ruck. Hayden McLean would be an ideal option. Howard in a straight swap with the Swans could work.

Ehh.., if Marshall so much as catches a cold we will most definitely need a ruck.

Unless of course you’re imagining Tom Campbell is a better alternative then Goldstein.

The point was that they played multiple rucks more often then not. Which is very evident by the amount of rucks who got games each season.

It was literally played that way 12 months ago by us.

Collingwood literally play Cox and Cameron
Melbourne tried it but had the wrong mix

The dogs do it too

I wasn't looking out for him unfortunately, I was watching Ned Long, he's the son of some family friends so had half an eye on it without much invested. Sweet really stood out. Arundel is a little nugget small forward, every game I've seen him play he looks great.
