Death taxes and twomey mentioning bombers
Watching his Gettable show on the AFL website I've noticed Twomey never mentions Essendon players as being "gettable". If ever his sidekick throws up an Essendon name it's always quickly dismissed as no chance. He's more than happy to throw players under the bus at other clubs, even those who are contracted. But never Essendon players.

His Bombers bias is all too obvious. He might be a draft guru but his trade show should be rebranded as Forgettable.

Pretty sure I said he’s been injured the last 3 years.. If you don’t think teams wouldn’t have handed over 2 first if he was on the table after 17, I don’t know what to tell you. 2020 he was great early that season.
He’s had 10 years. Why can’t people just accept that he’s no good.

Billings: One day he kicked 5 and had 30 possessions against the Blues. This was in 2017. That is seriously elite and not many players have done that. Someone mentioned previously on here that was his best season, so right up until 2017, his progress and development was slow, but it was still perfectly acceptable. There was still optimism he would take on the next step.

What happened? It can’t all be Richo and development, since he played three years under Ratten and continued the regression. It’s at a point now rival clubs are barely showing any interest. Injuries weren’t a big issue until this year. Hasn’t replicated that big day out against the Blues or the big comeback against the dogs in recent years.

2017 was six years ago, time to let it go.

But it’s not 2017 or 2020. We’re heading into season 2024 and we know exactly what Billings is in today’s game

I’m stating it hasn’t worked out for Billing’s at the Saints, but I’m not going accept that he hasn’t had a some good seasons. 17 he was A grade all year 60 shots at goal at 23 disposals a game as HF is top shelf, and showed his true potential..

Not long ago I was feeling bullish about the draft period. Today I am a lot glummer.

It seemed like we would get two useful players for 2024 in Henry and Dow (and that seems to be the case) and then a bundle of kids in the draft where Toce could hopefully work his craft to snag a few good players.

The latter was predicated on us being able to trade out a batch of players to generate a bundle of useful picks such as second round draft picks. The gossip over the last day, or two, seems to have that crop of useful picks drying up with seemingly Howard being the only possible trade that would achieve a good return.

If so, then this year is hardly going to land a likely bunch of new kids. That mythical beast of an inside mid that we all are so desperate for is starting to look like being most unlikely this draft/trade period.

Hopefully there will be some more positive news once trades begin. But the vibe at present seems to be that Toce is only going to have a weak draft hand to find talent with.

If you're a bloke like Billings, staring down at your footy mortality, wouldn't you just throw it to the wind, put in a massive preseason - go for broke in one last chance?

Got little to lose at this point.

Question is does he have it in him or does he fade into obscurity without so much as a whimper?

At some point pride has to kick in you'd reckon.

Sure… this looks like a super wanky hindsight recall about a player who has just got his side over the line in two consecutive finals, but hear me out. Jade Gresham needs to be retained, unless we can get a band 1 compo.

I've always liked him and wanted him to stay but this year I just wonder what tricks or elite weapons he has compared to some exciting kids we have now. He's such a beautiful kick but isn't quick, doesn't win many contests and misses goals he should kick.
He's probably replacing Clark or Phillipou if we made changes to the last game against GWS.

Hear me out…

With Hawks keen on Gresh and looking to potentially offload Grainger-Barras, could we.

Match whatever bid comes for Gresh and trade him to Hawks for DGB (obviously other picks and stuff involved)

Then we offload Howard to Essendon for their pick 27.

Then package up 12, 27 & 31 to Gold Coast for pick 4 and a future 2nd round pick?

Use that future 2nd to bring in Liam Henry.

Lose - Gresh, Howard, pick 12, pick 31
Gain - DGB, Henry, pick 4

I dare say that’s what he will do.

Body definitely let him down but also needs to have a red hot crack. Better than what he's shown which probably means the real problem is between the ears.
