I don't really watch the SANFL matches but can anyone tell me how Charlie Edwards is going? Just per stats he hasn't been setting the world on fire but stats only tell one side of the story.
Pretty ordinary but he was always going to be a slow burn given he'd only come into the Sandringham Dragons program in his top age year and only came into the midfield rotations when the Dragons top mids were playing at the Nationals previously playing forward.

Thanks, hopefully he comes on because we really need good midfielders!

Pedlar looked disinterested in first half. Went on ball for periods after and got more of it. Looks really unfit. Always struggling for breath
Unfortunately he's tracking towards being another first round bust.

I'm fine with Strachan getting a go in the AFL again but if you think he's the answer going forward you're asking the wrong question. We should have had a young developing ruck on our books 3 or 4 years ago...there have been some decent options available mid/late draft or even rookie draft. Joe Pike was there for the taking in the mid season rookie draft just gone but we passed.
And when are you going to finally hold Ogilvie to account for these decisions?

Wasn't he pick 50 or something? Our club thinks that's where we should be drafting our future midfielders.
I've watched a lot of Hugh Bond prior to him joining the Crows, we've drafted no braver footballer ever, maybe, just maybe he's checked out because he knows it's an exercise in futility putting his body on the line for this mob when he's not being given a fair crack in the position he's played for 95% of his junior career. He's a tough, hard nosed, hard tackling in and under mid and it's no surprise he played his best game in round 1 where he played midfield, since banished to the back pocket where he gets the roof of his mouth sunburnt watching the ball sail over his head

But if we played him in the middle, where would we play Boyle?

No Gollant, Hamill or McHenry today in SANFL. Seems a bit of overkill to take two emergencies to Vic (assuming Gollant still has foot injury).

Does this sound like the Hugh Bond that Adelaide have turned him into...

From Draft Central's draft bio :

Much of Bond's value extends from his contested game, with the hardened ball winner capable of impacting going both ways. He takes the ball cleanly at stoppages and has a sharp step to power out, but isn't afraid to wear contact in doing so. On the flip-side, his tackles have buried many an opponent, with Bond's physicality setting a great tone at the source.

Those attributes served him perfectly for a shift to defence with Vic Country, where Bond's competitiveness in one-on-one situations saw him become a capable lockdown option. It will be interesting to note where clubs see his best footy being played, given his stoppage craft and endurance base suit the midfield, but his defensive acumen helped him rise in stocks behind the ball.

There were times where the Rebels needed a lift this season, and Bond was able to provide it on-ball. Though his method of driving the ball into attack could do with some polish, his intensity can never be faulted and Bond's average of nine tackles per NAB League outing absolutely attests to that.

Going forward, finding a greater inside-outside balance may help his hurt factor. Bond has said himself that kicking is an area for improvement, and while neat by hand, being able to break to the outside himself, lower the eyes, and find targets forward of the ball is a more surefire way to make his possessions count.

He won't be on our list at the end of the year.
