Carlton probably like the idea of bringing Draper over with the Campo boys - 3 x SA boys drafted together

Have no issue if they do. That would likely leave us the salivating prospect of choosing between FOS and Jagga (if North go Tauru).

North just want Tauru and have another crack at a first rounder next year. Based on the points difference between 2nd and 4th, the Crows should trade up with the future first but ask North for its future second back. Then next year we can package up draft picks to buy back into the first round. We dont have anything else to offer North so I dont mind it as long as we get something back. So its not the end of the world. If we make finals next year that pick turns into a pick outside the top 10 anyway.
It's a buyers market. If nobody else is offering a future first, we don't have to either.

And if we had to offer our future first (even with a second back), I wouldn't do it. If North are taking Tauru anyway, Draper or (less likely) FOS will be available at our current pick without trading.

Why pay a first for the exact same outcome?

Why? He's been a concensus top 2 pick for the past 2 months, was the red hot favorite for pick 1 at the start of the year, did well at the combine, injury plagued year and still has a decent highlights package (thanks to noobermensch for all the videos). Seems to have a good personality too.

I'm not saying he's leaps and bounds better, I'm just saying he looks pretty damn good and potentially has a higher ceiling than most.

I think he's the least attractive of the top four options.

I think there's a big risk we're giving him an injury excuse that shouldn't be that relevant - his issue this year was not getting enough of the ball, and I don't see how a thumb injury contributes to that. It's not like it caused him to be fumbly with the ball.

I don't like the fact he seemed to be in a form slump for the entire year.

To be fair, he's not that type of player (yet). Rankine gets a lot less of the ball than Crouch but we all know who we'd rather have in our team. Ablett Jnr had that criticism levelled at him for a long time, damaging but doesn't get enough of the ball. That soon went away.

Agree that it's a smaller sample size in his draft year and he's 4th out of the 4 for me for that reason (and Draper's local) but he'd still be a fantastic get for us. Huge talent.

Have this weird feeling Carlton may take Draper, given they are going for the Camporeale boys they can take Draper and the SA lads can all stick together etc... :embarrassedv1:

Could make things very interesting if so....

Kangas tipped to pick a KPP. So a slider will come our way if that happens.
There will be a good midfielder at our pick regardless.

There is no need to spend unnecessary draft capital to trade up not accrue some sliding.

We are in a sweet spot with pick 4.

I’m confident one of O’Sullivan or Draper will be available at your first pick without having to trade up, don’t shit the bed like we did.

FYI Adelaide’s role in the WCE mock draft for all intents and purposes is complete. The following decisions were made leaving 4 main list spots and 1 rookie spot:
  1. Brodie Smith was delisted and paid out after October 31, meaning his salary is in the 2025 cap
  2. Burgess and Schoenberg were advised they would not get a rookie spot
  3. Adelaide traded 3 x F3s for pick 28 (31)
National draft:
Pick 5: Finn O’Sullivan MID
Pick 31: Alex Dodson RUCK
Pick 57: Zak Johnson MID/UTILITY
Pick 68: Tyler Welsh FWD

Rookie draft:
Pick 4: Evan Bradley FWD (assumed)

Not going to pretend to know the list as well as you blokes do so honest feedback (good or bad) welcome but otherwise goodluck in the draft that actually matters, hopefully most wouldn’t mind if it went similar to this one.

Why?

We don't need to trade up & under no circumstances should be giving you our future 1st.

Roos are the ones desperate to slide so why should we be generous when we have no need to.

Don't underestimate clubs leaking incorrect information... including us.

Or get a local lad in FOS which is an even better option as it deletes the go home factor entirely + good mates with H Reid maybe assisting in a future play to get him to the blues where his girlfriend also plays AFLW

AND we are the very best trade partners for north as they stay not only in the top 4 if they trade with us but crucially stay ahead of Melbourne if they want Tauru. So if we could engineer a f2 from those f3's on the night to go with our pick 4, north are essentially getting a free pick to still take the same player on the night

This would be a dream haul. FOS' talent is pretty special - think we'd all be pretty happy with any of those 4 (5 with Langford for some).

Ruck is a huge area of need and Dodson is the type of ruck we need - mobile and gets some ball.

We have a lot of mids but largely they lack speed and precise foot skills, so Johnson would be an area of need - very good get at 57.

Small forward is our other big hole and a speedy crafty one like Bradley would be ideal, Bonus he's a local. Prefect for the rookie list, has some question marks but a ton of potential.

If only our list management actually allowed us all these picks.

If Hamish f***s this draft up, we'll be reaching out.

Is going to the same club the best thing for the Camporeales? How similar are they as players?
They’re actually not very good

Ben is alot more inside and more rigorous but has an awful kick , gets more of the ball and will go earlier than Lucas . Ben is bigger ball winner and more size

Lucas is an outside type , small , can run all day and has a decent kick . He might get to the rookie draft but there seems to be room for players like him at afl level off half back etc

Not a big fan of either , Ben will drive the Carlton fans nuts I reckon

Have you ever tried playing with a sore finger for all the season and later a sore thumb at stages?

Does nought for a players confidence to attack the contest. Word is the finger hasn't been 100% right all season and he played through it. My understanding is he had 2 surgeries on the finger?

For me

Ben - pick 45 +
Lucas - rookie

But I’d prob not select either
Think you are being generous.

If they were wanting to play SANFL next year they'd have to go to one of the weaker clubs like Norwood because there would be no room for them on an elite roster like Glenelgs

I'd like to make a general request that almost certainly won't be adhered to but could people remove their politically charged avatars please? I come here to escape the impending march of fascism and would very much like to not be reminded of it constantly. Can we not have some solace from politics anywhere?

Wow. Okay.

I thought they were really highly regarded. Did they drop off this year or did I just assume they were good because of the name?
I think the name gets them recognition, and they did have a semi reasonable champs. I have them slightly higher than Jeff does but they aren't "difference makers" at all.
