You're cherry picking now, but my point is the drafting since 2020 has been 100% improved, from first round to second round.

I'm not suggesting the job is done, but the drafting under Pyke was woeful.

I've provided analysis to back that up, can you do the same?
Also, Pyke's call to trade out of #2 this year .....he himself has said he thinks in a weird fashion on footy matters

There's enough evidence whereby that cannot be disputed

IF RICH trade #6 and #18 for pick #2 ....they deserve to spend eternity in Hades

They've deliberately bottomed out ....got rid of great players ...to consolidate two first round picks in a great draft, when RICH need as many Draftees as possible, is insane

If it weren't so even in the Top 10 ...then perhaps, but that's not the case

Give up Travalia to get FOS ....and give away #18 for the privelege 🤔
Richmond currently have 8 top 24 picks, 4 in the top 11.

If they’ve identified a player they want at 2 and they go from 6 to 2, still have 4 picks before 11, 7 in the top 24, you reckon that’s madness? And how do you know they are going for FOS at 2?

I'm dreaming of ultra aggressive.
Schoenberg and Burgess find themselves paid out and perhaps even someone else - like Smith, and next years third rounders somehow turn into Dodson and someone else - perhaps that kid from WA talked about above.
All fairy land of course, but, should the numbers and trades suddenly become possible, is it within the AFL list management laws?
It doesn't seem like it, no.

What?

They need top end quality, especially in the midfield.

Getting Lalor and Jagga is much better than Lalor, Smillie and Whitlock.

Rubbish, the whole strategy changes under a new coach. The list management committee has changed too, giving Ogilvie clear direction.

Nicks loves highly skilled players, and wants speed. He has also demanded we trade more, including our first round picks where we can.

Unfortunately Nicks inherited a team of triers, and he has spent 5 years turning it into a highly skilled team.

To think the recruitment team work autonomous to the coach and head of football, year in year out, is the real nonsense.
Generally you are correct .....Coaches traditionally on appointment have been given 5 year terms to pull together "their" team" .....some of the rubbish Clubs get too involved, meddle in affairs, and believe the Coach should just coach the players on the list already

The Coach needs to provide the overview of the type of game he wishes to play, and the type of players he wants recruited .....that's it in a nutshell ...he doesn't or shouldn't get involved in Drafting UNLESS there's a line-ball call on similar players

Nicks is on record as saying he wants "Speed & Power" ....players who can drive their legs out of contests
Some Coaches like Craig preferred handballing out of contests ....so there's a clear distinction

Nicks first stage at the start of the rebuild, was to get contested footballers .....coming from SYD, that was his grounding, contested footy first

Then with each Draft & Trading .....he's overlayed skill over the contested game

The recruiting team, knows the Coaches gamestyle, and the type of player he wants .....then it's up to Hamish

You're missing the point .....in our stages of list build, I would support #6 and #18 for #2 for a standout player.....but not in RICH's position

They should preserve #18 and get the extra player .....the difference in #6 and #2 are not sufficiently great enough to give up #18

They could get Langford with #6 ....so it makes zero sense, hence why it appears RICH are a bit cold on the idea

It was Pyke who said the list needed speed and prioritised drafting Gallucci over English ...
I'm not arguing that he didn't ......it's clear as day, all sides are getting rid of slow midfielders, indirect midfielders ...to bring in speed and directness

Hence why Crouch is on the line .....his gamestyle changed back and forth again during the season .....crabbing a lot of games, and yet again, being more direct, using kicking instead of handballing, and using his legs in the last handfull of games

It's clear, with that ever changing gamestyle .....the Coaches are in his ear with strong messaging
