Final testing today so thought I’d do a Top 30 phantom draft after reported trades. It’s impossible to place GCS later picks with a team but they will probably sell them off so just went with best available. Some picks are with intel, but most are just speculation.

Hold up, how the hell is Hannaford not at the national?

talking on the Essendon board, apparently dual Brownlow medalist Patrick Cripps had a very poor 20m sprint time. It happens

if you can football, you can football
Cripps is a handball first in and under ball winner. He really has no need for a good 20m sprint compared to Langford who needs to create space to maximize his damaging ball use by foot.

I don't think the comparison has much merit.

wasn't a comparison at all

I did, and I'll say again... Cripps combine results held almost no bearing to his ability to play as he does most of gis best work at low speed pushing blokes around at the coal face to get his hands on the ball first.

Langfords combine results highlight a concern for a player that does most of their damage by foot outside the contest. It's like a KPP coming back with a horrendous vertical leap... It's sort of crucial to their role at AFL level.

Just my opinion on the matter.

(I will apologise, I shouldn't have been a dick with my previous comment)

I was referring to Langford being good at football. Even if he is not explosive, he can still have size and ability to find it, he should find a role at he top level. Whether his lack of explosiveness restricts him from being a top liner or not, id be comfortable he will play 150 AFL games (barring injuries of course)

Not a big fan of the "if you can football you can football" argument. There are often kids who are excellent juniors who struggle at AFL level due to lack of foot speed. Only have to look back one year to George Stevens.

Not saying he won't make it or anything like that, but to me it clearly makes Langford a riskier pick.

Agreed Noober, only have to look at the Blues snail paced midfield to see what happens when you put too many one paced plodders together in the current era of AFL. Hence why we're looking to trade 1 or 2 of them this off season.

Athletic traits are a huge factor in the modern game.
