Ratkins will be better than any of the noobs we pick up in this draft.

#2025yearoftherat
#theraticator

lel can you believe rory atkins is still on our list

Seriously though i really dont remember the last 5 picks that we have taken in the 20-40 range. Mason Shaw and Tom Clurey come to mind, seems our strategy is to stack the list with injury prone/high ex draft pick SA boys, players pick 50 onwards, random discards from other clubs and kids picked in the top 20.

Explains why we have a winning list but not a premiership list. No depth, trading potentially 3 top 40 picks for someone that could easily end up the next Butcher/Moore. Its all swings and roundabouts in hindsight in a few years time just food for thought

Apparently he's closer to nominating Saints than us atm. Obviously things can change in 12 months
I would highly doubt that…… all his friends and family live here and yes his father did play with St Kilda but that was a quarter of a century ago, Darryl is still involved in things at Alberton and the young bloke would have grown up knowing nothing but Port Adelaide.

Im that hot on Draper i just dont see how that happens. But it could go:

Rich - Smith
NM - Lalor
Carl - FOS
Ade - Langford
Mel - Armstrong
Rich - Smilie
StK - Reid
StK - Allan
Mel - Tauru
PA - Draper

That isnt out of the realms of possibility i guess
Inside word is North have a massive hard on for Tauru, hence their keenness to trade down with Richmond.
I reckon the Roos are gonna blink and take 6 + 18 for 2 where they will then get Tauru at 6. If not pick him at 2.
In no particular order the first six picks could be: Tauru, Smith, O’Sullivan, Lalor, Ashcroft, Langford & Draper where:

Tigers take FOS and Lalor.
Blues grab Draper.
Crows... Probably Smith. Langford? Smillie?
Dees are keen on Reid?
Roos take Tauru.
Saints grab Smilie and and maybe Reid at 8 & 9.

Leaving Bo Allen or Luke Trainor for a little later, hence the rumours we trade for pick 10 to trump the Eagles for Allen

I mean you can doubt it except for the fact that Darryl said it himself on radio haha

I hope we aren't moving up to grab Allan or Trainor and its actually to grab one of the names you mentioned for the other clubs

Seriously how in the hell do we trade up?
I just mathematically can’t see it.

I can't see us trading up for this reason too

Travaglia seems like a realistic first pick.

Then I think we will be hoping for Dodson or Gerreyn, and best available with the others.

Don't think Dodson will last till 29
Travaglia imo is quite underrated generally across the comp. Think Will Day. This kid has that about him. He'll start at HB sure which may annoy some here (and I totally understand why) but in long term, he can become a seriously good midfielder. There's huge upside with him so if we moved up to get him I wouldn't be upset.

Gerreyn more likely to be available at 29 than Dodson

Why are people carrying on like trading up from 13 to 10 is going to cost us an arm, leg, kidney, and jhf’s future son?

I would’ve thought a second rounder would get that done easily.

Why would a 2nd rounder get it done so easily? (I assume along with 13 you mean)

If it was that easy we would've done it ages ago. There'll be better offers presented to Richmond than 13+29

But as C4 has said, it's a 3 or 4 way deal with North, Richmond, Port and possibly GWS. It's not just Port trying to trade up with Richmond. The main deal swings on Richmond getting pick 2 from North, the Tigers are doing the heavy lifting. We're going along for the ride and giving up something that helps get that deal over the line but benefits us too.

As he said, he doesn't know the mechanics of the deal but he knows what is meant to end up with Port.

Of course 13 is involved. That is why I said moving 13 to 10. It’s only 3 spots, and Richmond might be confident they get who they want anyway by moving 3 spots back and get second rounder on top.

We moved from 14 to 12 with a future second in 2021 when we got Sinn and many thought that was overs at the time.

Not sure why all of a sudden it’s insurmountable.

Richmond have 8 picks inside 24. Our pick 29 might as well be pick 100, it’s completely worthless to them.

Maybe there’s some complex 3+ party deal at play but I don’t see it.

They would get a better second rounder than pick 29 that's the whole point

North apparently keen on Tauru but don’t want to use 2 on him. Trying to trade down.

Crows more keen on Langford than Draper if Draper gets past Carlton?

Richmond take Lalor with pick 1.

Don't know who ends up with 2 but FOS would be mostly likely for mine at that pick.

Leaves Carlton with Jagga and Draper to choose from. Carlton choose Jagga and Crows take Langford it gets interesting.
