It would be really nice if we can cash in a bit of good karma that we are hopefully owed to move up a bit in the draft and get a really top end prospect for losing Houston. But as C4 has said, it's a 3 or 4 way deal with North, Richmond, Port and possibly GWS. It's not just Port trying to trade up with Richmond. The main deal swings on Richmond getting pick 2 from North, the Tigers are doing the heavy lifting. We're going along for the ride and giving up something that helps get that deal over the line but benefits us too.
As he said, he doesn't know the mechanics of the deal but he knows what is meant to end up with Port.

That would lessen the pain of not getting heaps back on that trade and could move it into happy days.
Yeah, I was going to say a similar thing, that if Essendon were involved there would be no chance of a deal but there are teams willing to work together to get deals done. Sometimes you are a major part of it like with the Hornet and sometimes you are the little link in the chain that makes it all work like hopefully this time.I recall too that 3 of these clubs were involved in the JHF trade that no one thought could be done especially when the AFL remembered we are not a Victorian club and wouldn't let us trade any future picks we wanted. The other clubs took up the slack because they knew it was a great trade where everyone benefited.
It's amazing what can be achieved when egos are parked and no one is trying to win the trade. If Collingwood or Essendon were involved it would fall over. Richmond have so much collateral though that they can afford to give up a bit extra to get what they want.
They would get a better second rounder than pick 29 that's the whole point
Anything from 10-20 in this draft is very very very even. So you don't need to offer up more than 13.Who is giving more than 13 though, and there are only 5 second round picks better than 29

If any clubs get whiff of us offering 13 and 29 to get pick 10 to get a Smilie, Reid or Tauru, there'll be other clubs able to offer much better deals than us.
You've clearly missed the point.Do you see how contradictory these two statements are. You are saying that 10 and 13 are very very even, and then think a club is going to fall over themselves to outbid us to jump a couple spots in a very even list of players.
You've clearly missed the point.
Let's say hypothetically: Smilie (who I consider in the top 8) slides to 10. Now we Smilie and GWS like Smilie. We offer 13 and 29 while GWS offer 15 and 21. Who's offer do you think Richmond would take? If I were Richmond I would be taking 15 and 21 rather than 13 and 29.

If GWS are involved they have 15, 16 and 21 to work with? Also their Future first.
West Coast have 12 and 26 or a future first.
Dogs have 17, 25 and future first.
Fremantle have 14 and future first.

Richmond supporter. Excuse.I challenge anyone to put up a pick trade scenario that gets us into the top 10 and I’ll tell you why it’s unrealistic or why our involvement can be bettered by another club.
At the moment, our involvement is a pipe dream in the ether.
Three problems- If you have a player in mind at 10, how do you know that WC won't take him at 12? Also, what use is 29 to Richmond? You won't even attend the second night of the draft and if you do, you will use pick 24 then bugger off home. When pick 29 comes around the Richmond recruiters will be at the pub or tucked up in bed. Thirdly, after that little conversation with us, Richmond could speak to West Coast and get a better deal.Richmond supporter. Excuse.
Draft night and pick 10 Richmond is on the clock.
PA: we want your pick 10 and will give you 13 and our Round 2 pick.
Richmond: are you prepared to divulge who you want?
PA: yes, player x.
Richmond: Okay(not who we’d have taken) we’ll do that.
Angus Clarke is a solid mid sized defensive option who seems likely to be taken somewhere in the middle rounds of the upcoming draft. A versatile 188cm defender, his aerial strength allows him to match up on taller opponents, while his pace and agility makes him equally adept at covering smalls. He's competitive and disruptive, with a strong focus on winning his matchup first, but when he does get involved in transition ball movement his dash and excellent kicking skills can be a weapon.
I haven't seen much of him at SANFL level but apparently he's mixed up his role quite a bit for Glenelg, playing forward and possibly wing. Not sure we would would be looking into him with so many similar guys on the list/expected to come in this year, but he looks good. Ty again for putting these vids together, much appreciated.
Provided Richmond have not done other trades, they hold pick 11 also. In theory we could trade 11 to PA , provided you’d divulged who you wanted and it was not who we wanted.Three problems- If you have a player in mind at 10, how do you know that WC won't take him at 12? West Coast have more draft capital than we do including future firstProvided Richmond have not done other trades, they hold pick 11 also. In theory we could trade 11 to PA , provided you’d divulged who you wanted and it was not who we wanted.
Also as we hold 11, we’d only need to get past WC and if Allen was still on the Board and he was not our target it’s not a problem. West coast don’t have much draft capitol.

Often being the key word thereThat often suggests that you havent made a very clear point.
In the hypothetical scenario you just provide, Smilie slides to 10, are you suggesting that this would all happen on draft night (which is the only way you can know that he has slid to 10) ?
If this is the case the deal you mention could happen, yet the deal that apparently is being discussed is a 3 way deal also involving pick 2. ... this (as far as I am aware) has to happen before draft night (I dont think you can do three-way pick swaps on draft night, or can't remember any) ... so the trade in question that Richmond are looking at would be occuring before Smilie slides to 10.
In other drafts maybe pick 13 + 29 for your pick 10 BUT not in this draft.Richmond supporter. Excuse.
