jack whitlock at 16,The Age has an article with a top 40 phantom draft based on current picks.
We have spoken to recruiters at 14 of the 18 clubs to get the lowdown on this year’s top 40 prospects and which clubs they might end up at. Father-son and academy bids will alter the order and that has been factored into our phantom draft.
For Port:
16. Jack Whitlock (Reid and Trainor also possibilities, they acknowledge our interest in Cooper Hynes who they have going at 28)
31. James Barrat
38. Angus Clarke
The AFL draft is just weeks away. Here’s where the top-40 prospects could land
The draft is rapidly approaching and the 2024 class has recruiters salivating over its depth of talent and variety. We rank the top-40 players.www.theage.com.au

Both Port and West Coast want Travaglia.Travaglia my preference if we keep 13. Slots straight into Houston's spot next year on the half back line and then begins rotating into the midfield in 2026.
The Age has Adelaide drafting Langford and Draper falling to St Kilda's picks.
Murphy Reid at 20 to the Bulldogs.
jack whitlock at 16,
Pointless reading this shit from The Age.
What rubbish picks Whitlock in particular except Barrat. Clarke is relatively raw someone who came out of the nowhere this year into the U18 SANFL team. Doesn't have pace and we have Logan Evans playing that role.
Honestly we can't be taking defenders as we need to bare in mind we have F/S defender currently at 191cm coming through next year (Gill Wakelin).
We already have Moss and Welsh developing as key defenders. We possibly get 2 F/S half back flankers (defenders) this year in Rome and Louie.
Clearly they no clue with Port's list and needs. No more defenders PLEASE!

As I have mentioned elsewhere, reminds me of Salopek. Would love a Steven Salopek, injury free or better managed. Wish he played the 04 Grand Final over Cassisi, alas can not rewrite history.I would be very surprised if Murphy Reid lasts that long. Would be happy with him at our natural 13.
When does Twomey do his final call - a lot closer to the actual event innit?
Because like there are so many experienced list managers on our board who know better than Cripps and Parker.Of course 13 is involved. That is why I said moving 13 to 10. It’s only 3 spots, and Richmond might be confident they get who they want anyway by moving 3 spots back and get second rounder on top.
We moved from 14 to 12 with a future second in 2021 when we got Sinn and many thought that was overs at the time.
Not sure why all of a sudden it’s insurmountable.

Wakelin wont be growing much more I would have thought. Ends up a tween size.
Clarke has huge upside and would likely be best available at that pick. I also disagree that he lacks pace.
Whitlock…well…i rate him a lot later than that, but at least we’d be getting a KPF
We need another KPD. Clurey, Mckenzie and Marshall gone. AA is 30. We have no KPD cover as it stands
Richmond will slide back in the draft to accumulate picks for 2025. It’s the process we used to accrue points last year that we traded to Brisbane for pick 20 this year. Eg drop from 24 to 26 and accept a futures pick. If you have 3 or 4 players that you rate approximately the same and a club wants your pick, then drop back and take the extra pick. We did it 4 times last year and used the points this year.Richmond could trade 29 for a future second
So you basically ruled out Ratugolea as a KPD? He is pointless as a forward and set shots are bad.
At least Rat playing in the SANFL as a KPD will help him develop and learn his role.
Ratugolea at this stage is our depth who could play at AFL level yes not great but at least something.
In terms of Wakelin's growth capacity I wont be judging till I see a revised height chart next year. Eg Will Day was 187cm measured during draft year and grew to 191cm recorded in his Hawthorn profile. So won't rule out anything just yet.
I get we don't need Clarke, but how can you watch him play and think he lacks pace haha? He's quicker than what Houston was for us, great in the air and a good kick too. I wouldn't be mad if we picked him but also on a needs basis I wouldn't be picking him.Pointless reading this shit from The Age.

Wakelin to end up like a Michelanny size then.Wakelin wont be growing much more I would have thought. Ends up a tween size.
If Adelaide really didn't draft Draper, it would only give more credence to the idea that he didn't want to go there
I really like both these lads. Hard to split but maybe Allen by a whisker. Both Port and West Coast want Travaglia.
Trade up to 10 and we pick before West Coast for either Travaglia or Bo Allen.
Hope Clarke is still there at 38.The Age has an article with a top 40 phantom draft based on current picks.

Anything from 10-20 in this draft is very very very even. So you don't need to offer up more than 13.
If GWS are involved they have 15, 16 and 21 to work with? Also their Future first.
West Coast have 12 and 26 or a future first.
Dogs have 17, 25 and future first.
Fremantle have 14 and future first.
If any clubs get whiff of us offering 13 and 29 to get pick 10 to get a Smilie, Reid or Tauru, there'll be other clubs able to offer much better deals than us.
