List Mgmt. 2024 AFL Draft

Gill Wakelin (191cm so far) defender F/S don't stress
Angus Clarke might be handy this year, good Lucindale boy and at 188cm , is almost a 1 for 1 replacement to Bergs. Would be handy to have a extra spot of the list to nab him. Maybe West could do this role if we grab him, otherwise Walsh comes thru hopefully.

Salopek was a midfielder. Murphy is a Georgiades clone. I dont think Murphy has spent any time - certainly not any considerable time - in the midfield at all.

I'm not sold on Murphy. He looks ok, but he's not really a point of difference for us. He looks a pretty meat and potatoes mark-kick-goal forward.

------------------------------------------

I think with Hynes what people need to realise is he's a midfielder first, potential third tall option second. If we draft him, we'd be drafting him to become a midfielder, not just to be a tall flanker.

Day-Wicks is more of a Hayward type. Mid-sized marker but has many more runs on the board in the midfield than Hayward has. Maybe a bit like a Rayner but with less x-factor
I’m getting Murphy and Reid confused, sorry.

I reckon Travaglia would close to perfect like for like with Bergman. Clarke, I rate him, but not sure he can play on talls like Bergman does.

Barrat would be the one i'd be picking with our 2nd pick.

So much to like about Cooper Hynes as a potential addition to our forward line. I wouldn’t say he’s slow but I’m concerned about his acceleration from the contest and on lead. Maybe he reads the play well and is elusive enough to counteract this perceived flaw? Hopefully it’s just the sample vids giving this impression

Depending if we are keeping Pick 13 where possible trades include:

Doggies: out 13 & 29 their 17 & 25
GWS: out 13 & 29 for their 16 & 21
Lions: out 36 & 50 for their 27 & 66
Swans: out 13 for their 19 & 22

What does this have to do with 2025 draft crop? and Wakelin in particular?

"Finals are scary" so I understand his reluctance to join us and play for the Saints with no finals pressure.

Hopefully not true and he nominates us.
It was Darryl who said Gil's been flying to Melbourne to train with Saints. I think I posted the podcast in the F/S forum we have

Yea maybe to get a different experience with all costs (travel & accomodation) paid for by the Saints.

He definitely trained with us this year during the school break along with Rome, Ky, Wilson boys and Louie.

Barrat's highlights package looks great!
Barratt should be available at pick 36. For me it's a really toss up between whether we want a Westhoff like utility (which is what Barratt will be imo) or we want a ruck/fwd in Gerryne.

Barratt was okay up forward (think he kicked 22.21) but was even more impressive down back. Played some tagging roles through the midfield too. Would be happy would this pick

The league has warned clubs against side deals that would see them declining to bid on father-son and academy players as AFL House steps up its determination to see clubs paying a fair price for elite young talent.
Clubs are still in the dark about where bids will come in for future stars including Brisbane-linked Levi Ashcroft and Sam Marshall, Gold Coast’s Leo Lombard, Essendon’s Isaac Kako, Adelaide’s Tyler Welsh and Carlton’s Ben and Lucas Camporeale.
St Kilda is a strong chance to bid on Suns mid Lombard given they have picks seven and eight – about where he fits in the draft’s top 10 – and they are keen to bolster their midfield with hard-running players of his ilk. The Suns would then match a bid for Lombard.

That crackdown saw the league videotaping the lodgement of trades this year and specifically asking club list bosses whether the deals being lodged had any other secondary component. The league had AFL player movement manager Ned Guy and an integrity department staffer in those meetings, where clubs were reminded about their obligations. Those clubs were warned that linking deals which saw one club trade players or picks but also guaranteeing it would not bid on a rival club’s players was illegal under AFL rules. But it remains up to clubs to use their discretion to decide whether they bid on NGA, northern academy and father-son players, which can then be matched by sides with links to those players.

I am really keen on gerreyn with our second pick. Happy to take a tall defender like Barrett with our third as long as we use the first on a mid/forward type.

Initially seems a bit over the top, but on reflection, I bet they havent done this without a reason ... I reckon that they have had reports come back of side deals being made. Some of the trades are a bit one-sided, so having a side component seems quite possible.

I know we’re all guilty of becoming fixated on certain players. I definitely wasn’t even thinking of a small forward to draft but this kid has something special.

And kudos to the person running this YouTube channel, I love that it’s all their game involvements not just highlights. I’m also of the opinion that whoever selects Jagga Smith will have the best player in the draft, absolute freak.

Yeah we just need to take Berry, obviously our biggest weakness is lack of goalscoring forwards.
Also agree I'm flabbergasted that Richmond are going to overlook Jagga even if they do get Pick 1 & 2
