Yeah we just need to take Berry, obviously our biggest weakness is lack of goalscoring forwards.
Also agree I'm flabbergasted that Richmond are going to overlook Jagga even if they do get Pick 1 & 2
If we take a small forward with our first pick the people responsible should be Life of Brian stoned to death.

I am hoping that recruiters above us rate Langford the same way you do and he is there at our first pick.

What are the criteria for being in an academy?

I’m curious to know how Marshall quantifies for Brisbane when he plays for Sandringham and has previously represented Vic Metro.

Couldn't have been easy to put this list together! There's definitely some interesting calls in there but I think thats the beauty about this draft. Good work mate

Of all those likely available at our first pick, I like Berry the most- quick, clean, one of the few two sided players in the list, good goal sense, good pressure forward- a natural forward with clear potential to develop into a midfielder.

So I’m interested why you don’t rate him in the second tier, where I would put him. Is it a philosophical preference for proven mids? Is it a perception Port don’t need another small forward? Do you see a weakness in his game I’ve overlooked?

Would say the weakness in his game is that he has little to no midfield craft and he's a pure small forward. Usually pure small forwards are lightning quick but Berry isn't. He's got good speed but that's about it. I would say he's top 20 for me but if we picked him up I'd be disappointed. I can't see him having much influence as a midfielder at AFL level

From the little bits I have seen Shanahan looks really good mobile tall. Most drafts seem to have him available at our pick.

Berry looks like an afl player to me.

I'm not understanding the love fest for hynes.

Dodson at 29 seems like a good pick for upside.

Wish we had a spot/pick for Dodson

Shanahan has lots to like, question is about how we set up and whether he suits us.

I don't understand the love for Berry tbh

I also think that Luke is the better Camporeale... Ben seems like a stock standard inside mid whereas Luke feels more valuable as a hard running wing. Most phantoms have Ben higher though.

Ive had Berry as high as 15 but ultimately I just rate the players ahead of him slightly better. I feel he might be a bit vanilla at AFL level and whilst i think hes smart with the ball, I dont see him becoming a 40 goal a year small forward.

I could be wrong with him, he and Lindsay are the two ive really wavered on. I wont be upset if we pick him as he does present a need.

Does he really fix a need though? Above Rioli, SPP, Richards and DBJ? I think there's more pressing needs than small forward and anyone we get should be able to play a dual mid/fwd role

For those who care, Ned Bowman spoke on 5AA and said 10 clubs interviewed him with Port and Crows being part of that 10. Wouldn't mind him as a late pick

The real sticky point with this draft is, whoever we select with our first pick determines who we'll select the following picks.

Interestingly enough, I've heard we have a lot of interest in Hynes, Trainor and Berry (I guess these 3 are very likely to be at our pick). Hynes has the highest ceiling of those 3, Trainor would signal a change in strategy to pick a Tall defender with a FRP, highly rated him but the concussions are a tad worrying. Berry, well he's loved in this board for some reason so I guess will make a few people here happy!

Would be interesting to see what we do if someone from the top 10 slipped through. I'm still very keen on sliding 13 back and bringing 29 forward in some way

I think our small forwards were definitely a weakness the past couple of years and he would be an instant upgrade on half of our smalls on the list from last year. Plus, his favorite player is Robbie Gray, so that makes him an instant pick #1 candidate in my books ;)

Bowman is a pretty fun player to watch, wouldn't mind him. I think Trainor would easily be best available at our pick if you ignore the concussion thing.

I also like Hynes, but he just seems a little nervous/fumbly to me at times, he does some very nice things at times too, though. Would be happy if we drafted him.

Joe Berry is a need.

Rioli is turning 30 next year with at max 2-3 years good of football left in him. He also goes missing during the mid season for cultural reasons and injuries. He missed 8 games this season.

SPP is coming back from an ACL you can't expect him to be at his best its just not realistic and an unfair expectation to have.

Joe Richards is a 9 gamer. Not proven at AFL level just yet. He is an unknown we are speculating what he could be and all the best to him.

DBJ is an above average forward that became a forward out of necessity he isn't a natural forward.

Out of the 4 mentioned above Rioli and SPP are the only 2 ELITE forwards.

Charleson/ Anastasopoulos need a bit more time and Benny Barrett he was playing in the mid at SANFL U18/Reserve maybe to be hidden away so opposition recruiters don't keep an eye on him.

McEntee bye bye end of season 2025

I had him 51. I need to revisit him
