We really haven't had any luck with father sons have we.

Burgoyne looks good but when you look around the league at the likes of Ablett, Hawkins, Daicos, Ashcroft, Darcy etc etc.

Montgomery has a pretty good resume. Played state u18s the last 2 years, was in the best against WA.

One of the strongest aerial players in the draft but 5cm too short to be a top prospect. Plenty of taller intercept defenders will go before him.

North firming to hold on to pick 2.
Melbourne and Saints now keen on Tauru so apparently not worth the risk of trading down.
( Melbourne and Saints maybe playing games to bluff North into using 2 so a player they want slides?)

Ashcroft to one side.

1. Richmond takes Lalor.
2. North takes Tauru.
3. Carlton now has a call on Jagga/FOS/Draper and all of a sudden everyone wants Bo?

Someone is sliding to 10 if a deal can be done?

The other way Hotton isn't in the 1st round I'd trade down and go for

Hotton
Dodson
Mraz
QUOTE: Hotton unfortunately, suffered an ACL injury at training before the National Championships, which ruled him out for the remainder of the season. However, his talent and potential were obvious early in the year and AFL clubs will be closely monitoring his rehabilitation ahead of the Draft.

Brett Ebert was ports leading goal kicker in 2007, nothing special but serviceable.
Reckon he could have been better, but injuries got the better of him and the club was dishing up shit sandwiches between 2008-2012.

Small forward with first pick would be crazy.
But that’s what I’ve come to expect from this club.
Sorry to disagree but small forwards have been the key to winning the last two grand finals and apart from Rioli we don't have anyone close to a top liner. Brisbane built their small forward list from first round selections and a proven star in Cameron. We tend to think anyone who can apply some defensive pressure will do. Small forwards are the main avenue of scoring in finals for successful teams but ours go missing because they lack class.

If Port think Berry is good enough to play round one I'll buy into that argument.

Port have to think he's that good.

Rioli, Richards, SPP and Berry with Lukoius, Gerogeiades and Marshall/Lord really exites me

However im sure our new look mobile forward line wont work due to our very poor inside 50's

They interviewed Berry in mid-August, that's just due diligence. I'm sure they've spoken to other players since and probably more often. He will be in the mix if we stay on #13 but it doesn't put him at the front of the queue.

Don’t make sense drafting a small forward when we just overpayed for one in the Dan deal.
We are not winning jack unless we get some big bodied players around the ball.
If I had a dollar for every time it’s said we get pushed off the ball to easy by other teams I’d be a millionaire.
Very nice you use Brisbane as an example, look at the size and strength in there players all over the ground compared to our shrimps.
Yeah Cameron looks good because he has big bodied guys doing the work getting it forward.
He’d be shit in our team as he would be scrapping for a touch.
Even old Zorko looks like a wrecking ball up against our lightweights.
All we have is Wines and he hasn’t got a lot of time left.
The rest play pretty football that looks good when it’s flowing your way but gets crunched in finals.
Pick 13 should be a strong body type, we are desperate for those types.

The West Australian: Western Australia’s top prospect is set to be off the table before West Coast and Fremantle’s first picks, with three rival clubs showing significant interest in Bo Allan.
The Peel Thunder premiership player is considered the standout talent from WA ahead of this month’s AFL Draft, firming as a potential top 10 pick ahead of November 20.
After trading away pick three, the Eagles are set to enter the draft at pick 12, while Fremantle also moved down the order to pick 14 as part of the deal to secure Shai Bolton from Richmond.
“Unfortunately for West Coast and Freo, I think he’s going to be gone before those picks,” state talent manager Adam Jones told The West Australian.
The Tigers are one of three clubs interested in Allan and currently have four selections before the WA clubs (picks 1, 6, 10 and 11).
St Kilda (picks 7 and 8) and Melbourne (picks 5 and 9) are also interested in Allan, who Jones said has the “potential to captain a club one day”. The 18-year-old led WA to a strong National Championships campaign in 2024 after being voted skipper by his peers.

You've heard that here and been steadfast we can't do it. Have you heard more that might have shifted your position?
Trying to move up and actually moving up are different things. Still don't think we'll be able to move up but moving down is far easier and valuable in this draft. My position on it hasn't changed, just that now I believe we won't be having 13 come draft night so my targets may change

Recalling back to ESPN's phantom draft a week or so back, they had us picking Berry but noted our interest in Luke Trainor.

Trainor is the grandson of former Geelong and North champion goalkicker Doug Wade. The Geelong grandson connection would give him something to talk about with Ollie Lord.

In other drafts maybe pick 13 + 29 for your pick 10 BUT not in this draft.

This draft has a lot of depth in terms of talent and at pick 29 we can get someone who fills our needs.
We have 5 vacant list spots on our main and we cant afford to draft speculative picks at 90.

Plus pick 13 +29 is overs for pick 10.
No point jumping 3 spots higher whilst loosing a valued pick especially in this draft.
I’m not disagreeing with you. If I was PA I would not do that deal. I was just responding to a PA post saying Richmond would not do that deal. I think if that was the offer Richmond would jump at it.

The fact that we are targeting pick 10 tells me that Berry is not our target.

I just don’t buy this at all.

Brisbane won the grand final because their midfield stomped swans midfield into the ground.

Brisbanes fleet took advantage of that dominance, and that fleet of smalls really consists of the majority of blokes playing something closer to a wing / hff role or just in general goal kicking mids than small forward.

Small forwards are the main avenue of scoring in finals for successful teams but ours go missing because they lack class.

Again I don’t really think this is entirely accurate, it’s at least a misunderstanding.

You’re looking at stat sheets and going, gee most of those goal kickers are small forwards (when you’re counting small forwards, hffs, goal kicking mids, mid/forwards rotating)

There’s like 6-9 players really in most sides that fit that bill, of course the majority of goals is going to come from them and not the 1-3 kfs teams have.

It also isn’t helped by the fact that there’s so few quality kfs going around that we’ve seen teams with weak kfs make it to the pointy end. The sport is worse off for it imo.

I think we’ve been giving some shit forwards far too many games , tho a better coach wouldn’t have picked them so many times for starters.

arguably f evans and mcintee only got games because of 3 factors

Hinkley is an idiot

We lacked in depth pushing for those spots in the 18-25th range once a cpl of injuries / suspensions popped up ( arguably because we keep trading out those mid range draft picks)

What depth we did have was young players who Hinkley doesn’t trust and refused to back in (or played and then dropped) while he backs in soon to be delisted players with limited to no upside time and time again.
