Quite simply, we need to land Shanahan or Whitlock with next pick. Crazy that they are still there.
We cannot waste this opportunity
Make it happen Portz.
Not surprised that Whitlock slid at all and there's quite a clear reason for it. Still trying to figure out what the flaw with Shanahan his, could be that he didnt interview well and maybe clubs are a bit put off by his ground ball work. If Shanahan isn't at our next pick, I would genuinely just take Angus Clarke and then take West at the next pick and call it a night. If Barrett gets through then we still have 94 which will be in the 60s so here I'd take Hargrave. If there's a bid on Barrett just match it. Another small forward wont hurt. We can be like Chelsea with their goalkeepers.

Praying we get Shanahan. If we do it’ll be great drafting but there is a very fine line between that and completely cocking it up which we are walking atm.
Shanahan or Whitlock I can handle. Outside that it seems like we've missed a trick.

Add Jay Polkinghorne to that list, less runs on the board due to injuries but higher potential than West, Nicholls and Rosenzweig imo

We like Vic country (Whitlock) and Allies country (Shanahan) picks. Whitlock would have played with Berry, so there will be an additional attraction there for us.

Wonder how we rate them, especially when you add in Dodson, Gerryn, Clarke etc

Would

I was told a while ago that we have no interest in Dodson because we have 3 of them on the list and that is currently not a need at all, while we have other deficiencies

I'm hoping it's a Ben King/Max King type situation where the 2nd one is actually better

Funny you say that, because almost everyone rated Jack higher than Matt. I was the opposite but I had both well in the 30s because their strengths are all athletic based and not football fundamental based. North did the smart thing and took the "2nd one" already haha

Josh Dolan.

Still like and Twomey has us talking to him.

Should we trade 33 and 38 to ensure we get Shanahan or Whitlock? If we don't I feel like they will be gone.

Could only really see west coast for pick 30 and 44, but not sure if they would do that. I think we stay where we are and take best available. Maybe a tall forward and tall defender. One of shanahan, Whitlock or Gerreyn, and one of mraz or Barrat.

QUOTE: Many have gone ahead of the injured Mraz through no fault of his own, and he could prove to be a serious steal.

Georgiadis, Aliir, and to a lesser extent BZT aside the club has had major holes up forward and particularly in defence that have required filling for years now, but after dudding up last year by overpaying for Ratugolea once again they have been ignored and kern will already have his pen hovering over his excuse list for dropping out of the finals next year because of `reasons!'

I wish Berry all the best but as good as he could eventually be a 180 cm small forward is unlikely to ever be any more than just the icing on the cake in a team that is so clearly desperate for big man strength in most key positions.

A ruthless club would have rissoled Boak after last year's debacle against the swans, McEntee would have followed him out the door post haste, and unless we are going to rename the club the Port Adelaide Hobbits what was the point in trading in Richards from the wobblers, plus with talk of drafting Barrett what happens now with Anastopolous?

Hopefully, the final two picks tonight will have some decent size about them, but like others it won't surprise me greatly if we pick up a couple of undernourished flankers who will be kicking the dew off the grass in the VFL magoos within a few short years.

End of rant!

If West Coast traded their pick to Fremantle then Fremantle get Berry and Port get Bo Allen. So then West Coast lose out on getting Bo Allen. So can anyone explain to me why they would consider doing that? And if there is not explanation, why did we give them our pick?
If the Eagles traded to Freo there would have been an agreement that Freo would not pick Allen where the Eagles would not do their cross town rivals any favours.
