Uncommon opinion but feel like Reid is the type of player to flop at AFL level. Has class, but lacks speed and size. Having one of those attributes at AFL level is almost essential in the modern game if you want to succeed in the mids. Still would prefer Lalor over Reid at this point but lots to play out

Reid is steel Sidebottom. He seems to go ok

I rate footballers over athletic traits. I don't think he looks likely to bust but who knows.

The speed and size worries me in today’s afl midfield. Either gotta be a clearance beast or athletic with speed and power to compete. I actually think he’d be very good off half back with good decision making and composure. Although we have surplus of that a good talent - prefer others
 
We need mids with a combination of hardness, running power with decent top speed, good ball winning & decision making skills and solid general skills .... if they are good overhead then that's a bonus

These attributes are non-negotiable.

Easier said than done but that's what we need and we can't fk it up

We cannot afford to draft a Dylan Stephens or a Will Phillips type with our 1st or 2nd draft picks

Taller key position players ..... draft best available with later picks we have

Returning from injury, Lalor was prominent all day, winning the clearances early and providing defensive cover when necessary. Such play highlighted his aerobic underpinnings and running power. His tackling pressure was excellent, with Lalor a constant go-to in the midfield and aided by strong support from Harry Lawson. Lalor’s kicking was composed in traffic and his ball delivery inside 50 was dangerous all day, whilst also being clean around the contest.

Surely he doesn't get written off after one average NC game?

Yep both would be good but I think Langford should be in those discussion also after his championship games. He was consistently very good and his kicking and delivery out of congestion is elite. Unlike last years draft there are no top 10 stand outs, as Gringo has been suggesting this years draft could have players taken at #25 end up better than the top #10. There is a lot of uncertainty IMO.
 
Langford seems to me like this year's Freijah. Freijah looked good last year on a wing but its the discussion around upside that led to him sliding. WIll come into the system and have an immediate impact, but won't develop into a star

I also remember a bloke called Mitch Szybkowski from 2 years back - looked like a first round contender because of how he dominated midfields in U18s but didnt get drafted - all because of a lack of leg speed that would inhibit his upside

2015 Dunkley, Kieren Collins, Markus Adams / Gresham, Brandon White , Rice (F/S) / Dunkley a great pickup.

What if he smashes it v Vic Metro?

All of these young potential draftees put in the occasional average games

Jagga only had it 23 times on the weekend ... of course the question is why?

Played out of position?
Less time on the ground?
Was he tagged?

He racked them up in the games before .... 30+ ... looked a level above ... so why the lower output this weekend?

Lalor didn't have a great game v WA but some said he was played out of position .... but he has shown enormous potential in his one Coates League game and at APS School level

A medium-sized forward who is brilliant on his preferred left foot and particularly damaging in and around the goals. Billings is a versatile player who can also play through the midfield and off half-back where his awareness and vision can prove pivotal. He kicked three goals in the last round of the Under-18 Championships against Vic Country to secure All-Australian honours for the second time after a brilliant 2012 campaign as an underage player. Apart from his elite kicking, Billings combines a strong overhead mark with an ability at ground level to make life difficult for opponents. Set to become another member of the large Oakleigh Chargers AFL alumni, Billings is expected to go top five in this year's draft.

I hope he's not past his prime, Toce was going well. This is the most important draft in ages. **** it up and we are in all sorts of trouble.

Lalor's disposal looks terrible. I would have him late first round on that alone.

I watched all of the footage of Lalor's games that I could find. I'm not seeing it with him. Poor user, didn't see a lot of elite traits.

Jagga played outside the midfield in a lot of that match while they gave guys like Gross a run in the middle.

Hadn't rated Moraes at all until the last quarter of that match where he looked like a cross between Rozee and Butters. He's a bit of a weird player but he's more the type who might have some X factor that a guy like Dalrymple sees in him.


On Bont he was playing legendary games of footy where people would talk about this kid that was Nicky Dal's cousin that has kicked 15.2 from 52 disposals and was playing out of the middle. The knock seemed to be that his size might make him too tall for mid. It was the era of Andreas Everett not Paddy Cripps.
