What, you mean those 6 other mids?
So he's not a mid because there are other mids ahead of him??
Looked a flanker and played as one at the nationals.

Not overly fussed what he did when the talent pool was smaller and he needed to play on ball.

Against similar skill levels - he wasn’t used as a midfielder.

Still a great looking talent.

Jack Graham off to WCE as a UFA

Now you watch the AFL give Richmond Band 1 compo and push us down a Pick.

Played as a flanker and did very well. Showed his flexibility is what he did.

Yer he was actually. He played a full game on ball against WA and played very well in there.

6. Isaac Kako
Calder Cannons/Vic Metro

Forward, 175cm, 7/3/2006
Talent League stats (avg): 18.7 disposals, 1.7 goals, 7.7 score involvements
The Age’s August top 30: 12
Essendon may need to match a high opposition bid on their NGA prospect, with Melbourne strongly considering the dangerous small forward – or are they playing games with the Bombers? Either way, Kako, whose parents were born in Iraq, is considered a top-10 lock after a brilliant national under-18 championships. There should be no hesitation taking a sub-180cm goalsneak with Kako’s ability this high after Nick Watson’s impressive debut season. Kako is powerful, and has a knack for creating scoring opportunities and kicking audacious goals from seemingly hopeless situations. He can improve defensively, but can impact the game beyond the forward 50.

From the Dopers board apparently we put a lot of work into the Viking at the combine. Same bloke reckons we will settle on the Viking and Lindsay.
Don't think he makes it to our pick if I'm honest. Would absolutely take him though

He would be a perfect Battle replacement. Possibly an upgrade after a few seasons. But if he goes before our picks it means one of the mids slide. It’s a win-win.

He's more impact because he's unfit. He has all the talent in the world but without the ability to do pre-seasons, he is only limited to impacting in short bursts

When he starts playing footy full-time at AFL level, I really think doing full pre-seasons will not only help him get more uncontested ball and be more consistent week-to-week and within games, but it should also help his durability with his soft tissue issues. At full flight, he should be a 60%+ mid

When you have Richmond considering him at pick 1 alongside FOS, its strange for some to think he's "not a mid" imo

Well from everything I've read and watched he's more Stringer at the moment. He's a mid forward. That's you guessing at what he might be rather than what he is now.

Richmond considering him at pick 1 is possibly because they want another Dusty to fill the hole and they already have two elite on ballers in Hopper and Taranto and a few kids like Dow and Ross. Sonsie still to push in too.

They need to cover a few of those utilities and specialist forwards/backs now as well as talls.

I can't figure why Lindsay isn't higher up the order. All l can think of is theres no single outstanding attribute that people can latch on to, but l think that's more to do with him being a very rounded package. Unless magically Draper and Smillie are both there, l won't be happy if we pass on him.

He reminds me of an upmarket Paton. He's a real black boot no fuss type. He's got few outstanding qualities but just does everything well. He's vanilla but classy vanilla. He's like one of those $15 tubs that come in cardboard that falls apart so you know it's classy.

Tauru apparently not far off Nicnat for leap and athletically gifted AF.

They all mark the ball, Taylor is the best intercept key defender the comp. Have a look at De Koning stats when he played on Max King he took more marks than King. I not suggesting Cole wont be ok but the best key defenders can intercept the ball in the air, as it stands he projects as another Dougal Howard. Is that going to win us a a flag or just be good enough?

You can have both types still.

It's an educated guess though. Usually when a player hasn't ever done a pre-season, their lack of fitness and conditioning limits them from playing physically taxing roles such as midfield

That’s sorta the whole point of drafting. Predicting what the player will become and seeing the potential. He’s a midfielder first rest forward second tho. It’s just because he didn’t have a tank coming back from injuries he was used more as a burst mid (in the champs) he played mid last year as a bottom ager and he also played the 4 games in the mids for the rebels trying to build fitness before the season ending hammy.
