Both Matt Kennedy and Sam Frost have both publicly said they are not leaving Victoria, and will likely stay at their clubs.
Yep think we need to find the guys in the draft that have a very distinct role and not some of one thing some of another, especially in the forward line. Getting a Hynes or Davis who can provide a medium forward target man that is more mobile than Amartey will open up the forward line. Then replacing Parker with a pressure forward will just mean that it is kept in there more often. Can't just go and grab 2 guys that can do a bit of both tho imo

Oh man I missed Campbell in my team. Would just put him in the long list of interchange players.

Just feel he’s worth at least seeing what’s out there not saying trade the bloke for a random third but if he gets us a late first somewhere it has to be a discussion. Everyone wanting to trade Amartey…we’d be dead lucky to get a third.

This list was good enough to win 19 games and at one point have a percentage of nearly 160%

The problem is deep and elsewhere.

To a degree I get that BUT the minute teams forced us away from the corridor it was a massive issue.

McLean will be the vulnerable tall in our forward line. If we go into next year with a three tall forward setup..... 🤦‍♂️

Can’t agree. Need someone to chop out in the ruck. Not completely against Logan doing it but McLean is the most realistic at doing this

if we go in with same three talks then ffs have three smalls that can make a difference - no club stalwarts - make a tall compete in the air against the best defender - otherwise what are they there for ? And not one of the smalls who’s job should actually be creating space and crumbing off the talks or preventing easy exits

Sure but thats tactics/preparation for the team your're playing, along with the inability to adapt to what the opposition are doing.

Again coaching and tactics problem, notice how its a trend?

Is it tactics/coaching or is it talent? I actually don’t know the answer probably in between the two to be honest

If we didnt have talent we dont finish 1st and dominate for a majority of the season.

We had the best player in the comp and arguably the 3 AA mids along with averaging 110 points a game so things worked.

I don’t really see where McLean improves.

At least Amartey has the athleticism and has at least a couple of glimpses of how it might come together if it clicks.

McLean is an honest toiler at best.

Those three in a way might be part of the problem. If they don’t dominate, the rest fall apart. Need more balance across the team in terms of performance.

Where were these mids yesterday? I question the mix of these mids when it actually matters. They were half the problem with these slow starts every week. Would have been another 20+ margin yesterday if Daniher could kick

They both are equally imo. I reckon Amartey will give more in the ruck with his leap than McLean.

Either way, one has to go.
They should both be put through a specific set of drills over the off season. Rucking, jumping, contested marking, kicking for goal, breaking packs then whoever comes out on top plays the other goes back to the ressies.

Yeah for me we almost look too tall up forward. I’d also consider Logan doing the ruck a bit do remember a few times this year where we chucked him in he did well

Forward line needs to be in 2025 imo:
2 talls: McLean and McDonald
2 mediums: Hayward and Hyne/Davis
2 smalls: Papley and Cleary
+ Campbell with his wing/forward split role

Yep would absolutely give McDonald a bit of time in the ruck.
The coaching staff needs to tweak the game plan. Giving up CC and banking on turning the ball over works in the H&A but its A LOT harder to do so in the finals.
Always felt like the oppo teams were making way too many unforced errors early in the season, but when it gets down to the business end these mistakes don't happen as much.

Why are we even considering trading one of the best distributing defenders in the league who is only 24

For precisely the reason that other teams would want him but he consistently doesn't show up when it matters.
