Polarisation and an addiction to outrage is the legacy of internet culture. People form tribal positions on things and are fed a stream of dopamine hits in the form of things that rile their beliefs.

Pink haired trannies wanting to make kids into muslims at Christmas or Trumpists wanting to force kids into christian boot camps while forcing them to have babies to their preachers because they hate abortion stuff gets them going every time. People like Kane Cornes know how to stoke the fires real well too.
Plus you lead-poisoned boomers having no frontal cortex left and need to direct your rage somewhere after the kids have stopped talking to ya.

Humour is one thing we have left and even that wants to be taken away ffs 😂

I'm honestly torn, I don't think people should be campaignery but then I don't think people should be automatically offended for the sake of it. A dude dressing up as a 9-11 terrorist is probably a bit tasteless but really it's decades ago and a long way from here.

Probably need to just ignore shit and not get outraged and let people do whatever the **** they want as long as it's not hurting others. If an exploitative media didn't make it a huge thing it probably wouldn't have raised an eyebrow.
To be clear, im not offended by any of the costumes or skits. The Jarryd Hayne thing was in very poor taste IMO but outside of that, i couldnt really care. My point is less about whether im offended or even if anyone is offended. Its more that this umpire (in particular) watched what happened with GWS and still decided to do his dress up anyway. Its like the Nazi salute guy, youve JUST walked out of court and you do that. Its idiotic. The precedence is SLAPPING YOU IN THE FACE.

If he did this as a political statement to make the point your making, id still think it was dumb but id get it, but he didnt.

This dude looked at those sanctions, did it anyway, then took his suspensions and issued a limp wristed apology.

What on Earth was the point?

I am TRULY hopeful our leadership group learns from it and just says "Bassat is putting his beach house up, no costumes, no skits, no strippers, phones in a lockbox at the start of mad Monday".

Seriously, f*** the AFL.....sanctimonious bastards.

"Sorry Ken, you can't yell at an opposition player, that will be $20k...."

but also

"You know who will get eyeballs on TV.....Port and the Hawks, lets put them in Prime Time in Gather Round"

100%. Absolutely stupid thing to do unless you are a publicity whore that want any kind of exposure.

Have booked flights to head over to Adelaide for gather round with a bunch of mates from various states......was looking forward to the Saints playing at either Adelaide Oval or out at Barossa.

Nope:

Norwood. :D
I'll also be heading over Verdun.....can't wait to see the set up and footy vibe in Adelaide.

Those I know who've travelled over for the footy festival.....particulary the season just gone....have absolutely raved about the Carnival atmosphere.

They said going to Norwood oval was like stepping back in time......I love those old grounds.

Was hoping we'd play at AO or the Barossa........probably a blessing it's not the Barossa......I'd probably end up face down in a ditch after too many glasses of red !!!!!!

Not a good look.

:) :) :)

'Norwood oval was like stepping back in time......I love those old grounds.' - Same! Bit like North Hobart oval has soul.

reckon we will get to either or both Adelaide Oval / Barossa going with Hawthorn, Melb and Richmond supporters who I grew up with.

really looking forward to it. Might catch you there

Be careful, its next to Kent Town. There might be lots of Kent's around.

( you know, superman in disguise , get your mind out of the gutter ).

Barossa is a fair way out if you are staying in Adelaide. Probably about an hour drive. I reckon for convenience NO is probably better. I guess they'll do shuttle buses though.

Gather Round would be a terrible time to experience the Barossa.. between the masses invading wineries and the troglodytes that don't understand cellar door etiquette (get your drop & then move away from the jump) it won't be as much fun as any other time of the year.

For anyone who does go; Gibson, Henschke and Hentley Farm for the wine....Yalumba for the history and Tscharke for something different (the underground cellar is ridic).

This is hilarious

Dodoro always known for being an arseh*le in negotiations - on the way out he was an arseh*le to Essendon themselves.

I mean come on this guy has ripped millions out of the club in wages, got side deals on property developments then sues for wrongful dismissal and settles? What did he deliver for the club? Was there at least a finals win under his watch?

Can always take the scenic route home.

LOVE IT.............that guy defies all the rules of Karma !!!!!

You'd think after being an A-hole at the Bombers as an operator for all those years......he'd eventually cop his whack.

Ol no....he still had work to do....!!!!!!!

On his own club.

Incredible.

He's like the devil reincarnated.

President David Barham made a small reference to Dodoro when talking about the club’s list management vision at Essendon’s Crichton Medal count in October.

“We have injected more money and resources into list management and recruiting team, and we will continue to support this critical area which is now led by Matt Rosa,” Barham said.

"We have injected more money and resources into list management and recruiting team"

"We have injected"

"injected"

That Essendon article is the gift that just keeps on giving

Imagine how many cars and people are going to be there. It will be chaos. At least Norwood is a walk back to the city and cheaper accomodation.

"It was 2004 Dodo".

He started in 1998, so fair to say he peaked early, got comfortable and mediocrity set in...

1998, imagine picking Mark McVeigh ahead of Lenny Hayes. Then he got Ramanaskas.
1999, no first or second round pick, due to salary cap cheating.(Essendon have perfected many different ways of cheating ).
David Hill was a good pick up in the 3rd round though.

So those guys were probably bit players in the 2000 season, with the previous cheating probably mostly responsible for the performance.

Since then........

So yes he peaked early, rorting the salary cap and getting busted. Probably his biggest impact.

Ok 1998 to 2023 @ 100k a year (arguments sake) = 2.5m

And that’s just him. Quite brilliant Shane
