Doesn't matter why Battle left. He didn't move home across the country, he just changed his workplace by a few KM's.

Doesn't matter why he left, he left. No longer can be considered a St Kilda great (no one who leaves the club can have that title), not that he would have gotten that title anyway. Just another opposition player.

That's a bold statement! Considering 4 of our top 10 ever (based on this forums users) left our club...

Can't believe that was 10 years ago. We should do it again. Although not much has really changed in terms of top 20 players I'd say... opinions and the people doing the drafting do though!

BTW searching 'draft' on this forum lead to some pretty sad returns. I suggest not doing it.

Stewart, Winmar, Ditterich, Dal Santo, Goddard to name just a few St Kilda greats. Not saying Battle is the same caliber of player.

Stewart, Plugger, Winmar and many more.

Pretty outrageous statement tbh.

In Fiji the consequence of offensive behaviour is a swift poke in the nose. So we all learn to be carefully respectful. Even unexpected eye contact can propel you into the old pugilistic predicament…should I duck or dish.

It’s wild coming into the Western world and seeing people speak so directly to each other, with the odd I’m offended response, followed by a further exchange and then a parting of ways. It’s all so civilised, and it allows parties to quickly navigate issues that islanders would take weeks and months to address.

I like the exchange in here. We don’t all have to see the world the same way. And I think we can all still get along.

Just remember though if you’re working with a fob Islander and giving him direct feedback about his work, don’t confuse his quiet reticence with meekness. That mofo plotting the right moment to strike back.

My family background is English and I married a Slav. You think we talk directly, FFS they don't filter anything. I've been bought up with the kind of manners that make you spend 15 minutes telling someone that you don't want to be a bother when they ask if you want a cup of tea. Then another 15 minutes indirectly telling them how you like it while apologising the whole time.

Having worked with Islanders in the past I can vouch for the kind of silent grudge that bubbles away in perpetuity. They get very easily slighted by what looks innocuous to some. Most look tough as but they are the sweetest cuddliest and most sensitive men you'll find underneath. You'll never have a more loyal mate..... or mortal enemy on the flip side.

Tony Lockett is an AFL legend for sure. Winmar was basically delisted. If a player chooses to leave, I don't consider them a St Kilda champion. Don't care what anyone else does
What is it with the egotistical maniacs on this forum doubling down on their outrageously s*** opinions? 😂

It's nice that you don't care what anyone else has to say, but I care about what you say.

But only because your chat in this thread is better than any stand-up comedy show

Honestly, it’s very weird that anyone would care what I say lol

Winmar, Stewart, Ditterich, Lockett - just off the top of my head, sure there's plenty more - aren't St Kilda greats? Pretty sure they're in our hall of fame etc

Oh God, I came here after a few days away, replied to a post I thought was recent, scrolled down and saw the exact same comment from about 20 other posters.

The shame engulfs me and infuses into traumatic pain to the level that has the power to change my disgusting behaviour

Just happened upon an article from January sharing the news of Andrew Brayshaw's engagement to his long time girlfriend Lizzie, who is also from Melbourne. High school sweethearts at Haileybury apparently. No wedding date announced yet, both their families are in Victoria so you'd imagine the ceremony will be there, and just bought a place at Brighton. Saw something else where Lizzie says she really misses her sisters when she ain't there. Anyone see where I'm going with this?

Also, interested to hear which team the good people here think will be 2025's biggest slider?

Hard to see the Swans finishing a game clear on top again.

Cox could be a genius or it could take a year or two for his style to sink in. Not saying they miss the 8 but they could drop.

So my actual pick will be the Hawks.

They are going to have to rebuild their backline play around Barrass & Battle. Both great players but defence is usually built on style so that group is going to have to make some big adjustments.

They also have James Blank on the list and they were talking him up as their next FB so do all three talks play?

Does that push Sicily to CHF?

Then they will bring Mitch Lewis in to pair with Dear. Again, good on paper, but it could be a Max King style situation where Lewis is going to draw so much of the footy that the Hawks actually end up worse off.

They got some amazing footy out of Frost & Chol in 2024 and immediately went and replaced them.

Fair play if it immediately clicks but I wouldnt be shocked to see them have a down year while they try to work it all out.

4354 people ahead of me in the queue for Member Gather Round tickets, and I joined at 9.30am. The queue hasn’t moved since it started 10 minutes ago.

Ughhhhh

Edit: it’s going down now yay!

Couldn't be bothered.
I just booked for Round 1 against the Crows.
Decent priced airfares and accommodation, not inflated because of the novelty round.

Actually never been to Adelaide, besides through the airport, so quite keen to go and see Adelaide oval as well.
Haven't done a footy trip for a couple of years. Hopefully we get a win first up against the Crows.

Hey legends, do any of you have a spare member code for the saints vs gws game at gather round?

Trying to make sure I secure tix for a mate. If anyone has tips can you please DM. Cheers.

The easy answers are the Swans and the Bombers. The Swans have just been covered eloquently above.

The Bombers, in particular, don't have anything going for them apart from Caddy and a couple of others, do they? No identity on field, I predict them to be bottom 3, and yes I would love it.

Port keep surprising everyone so maybe they will again, but I'm predicting them to drop out of finals and finally hand over to Carr at some stage.

I think Dees will stay where they are which is a big drop already.

Giants and Hawks will fall a little, and the Blues could potentially get found out, they seem a couple of injurues away from implosion.
