Cats got 2nd round picks back for the both the 1st round picks.

In a complex deal, the Cats sent picks No.13, 15 and 20 and a future fourth-round selection to the Giants in exchange for Cameron, the Giants' future second-round selection and a future second-round selection tied to Essendon from the earlier Jye Caldwell deal.

So it was 13 and 2 pick slides for Cameron aged 26 I think. Cats know how to get trades done that sets up club for sustained finals appearance.

The cats have a lot of friends in the league.
Compare that to the trade the afl vetoed which would've seen the hawks with pick 1 in 2013

We absolutely won that trade every day of the week. McEvoy was contracted, touted as a future captain of the Saints and one of the best ruckman in the comp. 19 and a mid-tier player was a steal.
The Pelch was secretly still working for us on that trade. Just bizarre considering there had been talk that he might be a Saints skipper at some stage. Thankfully for Big Boy he got traded and got 2 premiership medallions.

If I’m risk adverse you are someone willing take idiotic and unnecessary risks that sacrifice the future of the club on Hail Marys. But of course I wouldn’t say that because I don’t play the man. Just debate the point like someone that has been properly socialised and don’t make personal comments and assumptions about other posters.
See Barrass is not Hail Mary I think it's a throw away line we know exactly what we r getting. Your posting in just the last few weeks indicates that ure pessimistic and risk averse. You talk about what ifs in us falling down the ladder thus ure unwilling to take the so called risks on trades. Not that anything we say here affects what hawthorn will do. You were also pessimistic in us making finals in fact down right adamant. You build ure own personality with ure posting

Hawthorn has never been risk averse. They have taken massive risks. Be they with coaches or players over the years.and yes sometimes u fail. However our strike rate to succeed from taking these risks is pretty damn good.

I think u will have plenty to say in the coming years about these risks which will be coming thick and fast as we start ramping up our list to challenge.

TLDR no harm intended mate I wasn't trying to be personal. None of what we say here matters

I agree, but let's be realistic. The way the hawks play, he is not going to be the player we need. As a back up, maybe, but not at a first ruck.

Look through my posts, I'm effectively leader of the Ned reeves fan club, but he needs to be at a team where he can use his weapons - tap ruck skills and breaking even in a contest/forcing a repeat stoppage, rather than our team where we rely on a gameplan of win the contest or get back to support
Leave out the Barrass deal and what would you expect for Reeves? My thinking is somewhere between 25-40. Ruckman's job is to be tall and he's just about the tallest. And is a good tap ruck too if he can work out the rule change. Wasn't bad when Meek was injured and is too good to just be a depth ruck.

Also those suggesting swapping HAW F1 for WCE F2 that is a fools game. Eagles can only really go up and we can only really go down. We need F1 for WCE 2nd i would do. Sure based on this year it looks like it'll be something like 16 for 21 But you don't want to risk them climbing and us falling and those picks being 3 and 37.

Yes, he is about that value. And I think barass value is around the pick15 mark (injury and age pushes it there from a top 10 value).
Reeves would be the sweetener

To this day I still do not understand what the Saints were thinking.......

Barrass for 2024 1st or walk. Nothing else. Don’t listen to these media parrots or west coast. They’ll come knocking at the 11th hour for sure. They want him off their books. If they don’t blink then good on them and they can keep him. More than happy to load up the backline with Battle and Serong as depth and go to the draft and get a gun forward or mid with that juicy first rounder. Happy days.

How is it risk averse to say that we should RISK losing him by forcing West Coast to trade on our terms when we know that he wants to get to us AND they want him off their books AND we have cover for him?

That's the very definition of a calculated risk. I hope the club is willing to take those risks and not just remove their pants and bend over the barrel for them to have their way with us, as risk averse people like you would encourage them to do.

3rd round for reeves - pick in the 40s - he’s not a proven afl player or showing huge scope to improve - nobody is giving more than that.

yes we can hold him to a contract but maybe we would prefer the list spot and think we can cover the ruck adequately enough with others.

I think club knows Barrass's worth. Laying down a hard and fast take it or leave it never works in any negotiations. I am sure they have their own limits in how far they go but those might be higher than ure limits. Doesn't mean they are bending over like u say

Dont be risk averse dude come on. This is so you! How do you think we built this club. We took risks!

Thinking we aren't going to play finals is risk averse is it?

Can I rename this back and forth “risk” and accept that I am averse to it? 😉
Surely given the length of time passed since we exited and Barrass nominated, the clubs have already agreed to the deal. If not that is either negligent or someone is being very unreasonable which would be unusual for these 2 clubs. As I’ve said all along I expect this drops day 1 particularly with Battle already done.

Lol what the hell r u on about. Laying down the law is u being risk averse. You are unwilling to budge. Having a rigid personality lends some one to bring risk averse you won't risk it past ure limit

Yeah I can't be stuffed anymore

This - the deal will already be done in principle. No use handwringing - the die has been cast.

Wow. People want to give away a ruck with his prime years to come, for virtually nothing, even when he has two years to run on a contract.

Wake up.

Ramsden is nowhere near Reeves league as a back up. If we are to trade Reeves, it cannot be for a packet of chips.

Ramsden might be okay for 2-3 weeks as a stop gap at AFL level. Anything more and he would tire and be uncompetitive.

Personally, if Noodle is happy to stick around, we shouldn’t be pushing him out. No way.
