Lol. The doping scandal came out way over a decade ago. You don't think it's time Hawk supporters got over Essendon's decade-old doping scandal?

🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️ 🤦‍♂️

It is truly, truly pathetic.

And I think I've been into it once in its entire existence....

My hate for Essendon started 5 decades ago.

Here comes the tough talk.
Nah, tough talk would be "he's contracted and a required player we won't trade him" Deals done, just giving the message to WCE members that they are going to get a fair price.

He's leaving because they want the draft pick(s). They are in favour of it and nudged him in that direction by backing out of a promise. Clearly talks have already gone on and both clubs know what the asking price and offers are and seem to be aligned. Need trade period to actually start to work out exact details but it will be done without fuss i think.

We took Scaife and Phillips on contracts through 2025, right?

Need to take 3 live selections to the draft. Currently have Battle and Barrass joining with only 3 guys departing so far (Chad, Cooper and Tucker). Need 4 more which can include delistings with re-rookie.

Edit: looks like Phillips was not a 2 season contract, just the 1. Out of contract along with DGB, Bennetts and O'Sullivan. That could make up the 4 if none of Finn, Reeves or Serong leave.

If the new eagles coach wants to keep Barrass it’s not the end of the world.

Still content to go to the draft and with the addition of Battle we are already improving!
The Eagles have 0 interest in keeping him, just doing the standard pre trade period flexing.

According to the media Phillips, Bennetts, O’Sullivan, Grainger Barrass are without contracts.

I feel one of our fringe players may also get traded on request.

It's actually in the best interests of McQualter to take the pick/s and try and nail them.

As a rookie coach there is minimal pressure on him to win a flag in the next few years which just happen to coincide with the remaining prime years of Barrass. If he can accumulate and nail picks in the next 3-4 drafts he will set himself up for a long tenure at the club.

I can’t see Reeves leaving now that he is off to the US as part of the 10 players from Hawks doing preseason training in America

This is the usual crap that goes on. Lots of huff and puff.

Eagles telling there faithful they will play hard ball rah rah even tho there man has said his goodbyes and thanks to everyone 😂.

Eagles will want two first round picks.
Hawks will want to give 1 pick and a player.
Eagles will refuse the player we offer.
In the end it will be 2 first round picks for Barrass and second pick coming back to us or something similar.
I just hope if it’s a second coming back to us it is this years Eagles second pick not 2025.

I just hope if it’s a swap of seconds it’s in this draft ie we end up with the Eagles pick 19.
Absolutely rediculous 2 first round picks for a a bloke almost 30 with a history of back issues.

Yeah it won’t be a swap of seconds if it’s two firsts

It would be 2 first for Barrass and a second

It is a lot for sure but get ready.

We have done the chasing here. We have committed to him and he has committed to us while contracted for 3 years. Hawks don’t normally back out of deals where they have done the leg work.

It could be a first round pick and a second round pick, but anyone thinking that the Eagles are trading away a contracted player for 1 first round pick only, need to get ready.

And we’re comfortable doing it, so there’s no issue

Have we learnt anything from recent trading history? Being easy to deal with doesn’t correlate to getting the club in the best position it can. Sounds as though Geelong will get Clarry and B Smith for a bag of chips whilst we give out 2 years worth to first round picks for a guy that may struggle to stay on the park for the length of contract. Very risky stuff

I think people are jumping at shadows with Pykes comment.
He was not playing ‘tough guy’

He said

“He has obviously expressed interest to leave, and we suggested that we will try and assist in doing that, but we want to make sure that we get fair compensation for the club.

“It’s hard to argue what Tom has been able to do for us and as a guy who’s probably regarded as one of the better backs, if not in the top half dozen backs in the comp, and is going across to Hawthorn, that we just want fair compensation for what we believe is a really good player.“

FAIR COMPENSATION does not equal ‘tough talk’

When we are getting Battle for nothing Barrass will get done even if we pay a bit extra
Correct weight.

People need to get their head around the fact that we know exactly what we’re doing.

We are essentially getting Battle and Barass in the door for a first round pick each, and we haven’t even had to offer Battle a shit load of money to come, leaving the door ajar for us to be able to purchase another first round pick in 2025.
