Have we learnt anything from recent trading history? Being easy to deal with doesn’t correlate to getting the club in the best position it can. Sounds as though Geelong will get Clarry and B Smith for a bag of chips whilst we give out 2 years worth to first round picks for a guy that may struggle to stay on the park for the length of contract. Very risky stuff
Have many here learnt to read & think about the post before arguing it ?

The post you quoted explained what most think is the deal.
But many others only read ‘2 first rounders’

I’ll put it a different way to you

We give pick 13 & a F1 , which could be 1 or it could be 18. Most likely closer to 18

We get Barrass & pick 23

So that is in real terms a 10 pick slide this year (in a supposed strong/even draft) & 1 x 1st round pick

Before quoting me & complaining again about the ‘expected’ deal, just think about the pick slide.

It’s not as much as you (& others) are making it out to be.

It is a lot for sure but get ready.

We have done the chasing here. We have committed to him and he has committed to us while contracted for 3 years. Hawks don’t normally back out of deals where they have done the leg work.

It could be a first round pick and a second round pick, but anyone thinking that the Eagles are trading away a contracted player for 1 first round pick only, need to get ready.

If the eagles try to bend us over do we walk away?

Do you believe everything you read ?
If you answered YES, then read my post above yours 😉

The media, mostly WA media, are the only people convincing you that we will get bent over by Eagles.

Edit.
Wait, it’s not just the media convincing you, it’s others on here who also believe the media

Clayton needs to be regarded as a significant risk. Poison the cub from within. What's not to like?

That is the other part of flamin_heck post that could be argued.

Cats bring in 2 players with known serious issues.

Good luck to them. A bag of chips could be very expensive in that case

We’re having a discussion, I know it’s not fact- just stating it’s bonkers to be considering it. I really hope the Hawks arent. Yes im aware we could have pick 18 next year but we also may have pick 7 or 8 for example. A first and a second I think is fair for both parties.

If the rumours about Oliver and Smith are true, the cats could truly be off the show and not in a good way.

As much as I would love Smith here, I think the Hawks have walked away due to concerns.
Are the Smith rumours very similar to the Oliver rumours or do they differ?

If we give up next years F1 along with this year's first, that is absolute folly. I will absolutely die on that hill.

Just cast your gaze to the players that would be available to prize out of clubs next year, and if you trade your F1, you absolutely hamstring any ability to maneuver in trading for 2 years. Hasn't Collingwood's poor recent trading record shown this in spades. Double first round trades are extremely risky.

Unless you are getting an absolute star like Cats did with Danger or Melbourne did with Lever, a current first round + F1 is idiocy.

I was told the “framework” of a deal was done early days between both clubs but that could have been “Hawks guaranteeing we give up pick 13” with other options to be explored later.

I don’t think we will walk away but I don’t think this trade gets done early either.

Barrass reported goodbye speech made me think the eagles told him to look for a new home.

Our first and a second round pick I could deal with.

I’d rather our F1 2025 and our second in 2024.

Who knows … I feel both sides will be fair as they both have what the other needs.

I really don’t think you read & understood my post.
I’m sorry i can’t explain it any other way
