Even if what you say is right, it would be a poor look by the club to extricate themselves from this in principle arrangement. Morally we owe it to the lad to make good on our promise. The question has to be asked, is a 29yr old full back (no matter how good he is) what this team needs to go to the next level? We have a pretty good 23yr old full back waiting to return from injury as well as having added a very good intercepting tall. In fact I wonder if landing Battle didn’t tip the scales such that we can’t justify paying a premium for Barrass. These things ebb and flow as the landscape changes. It just feels to me that our trade capital should really be prioritised to favour the midfield and forward line, whether that be through the draft or through trading.
Ahh you never win - we are either categorised as over paying or not being principled enough in our dealingsEven if what you say is right, it would be a poor look by the club to extricate themselves from this in principle arrangement. Morally we owe it to the lad to make good on our promise.
With clubs lining up for Houston, what could we get by splitting pick 14 (say F1 and F2), and what permutation would WC accept if pick 14 isn't involved?

For a late 1st rdr & late 2nd rdr you definitely take itThe question has to be asked, is a 29yr old full back (no matter how good he is) what this team needs to go to the next level? We have a pretty good 23yr old full back waiting to return from injury as well as having added a very good, potentially elite, intercepting tall defender.
I think this is the most probable scenario considering how professional both Hawks and West Cost handle these type of things.Hawthorn will pass the F1 and F2 onto West Coast for Barrass, they'll hand these to the Tigers for Baker who have picks up the yin-yang this year and probably need some 2025 picks.
Hawks get Barrass for 14 and 14 only
West Coast effectively swap Barrass for Baker
Tigers have Carlton's F1 (probably low teens) and F2
Good clubs don’t get good players to request moves to them and then walk away. Poorly run clubs like Essendon do.The question has to be asked, is a 29yr old full back (no matter how good he is) what this team needs to go to the next level? My guess this Carlton deal was done in agreement with West Cost considering how good the relationship between us and Eagles.Still think Barrass gets done.
Would be very poor from us convincing him to come to us. Only for us to not make the trade. He had a goodbye speech at the BnF...
Waggy? If this person was walking around with a green t-shirt and big brown great dane then it wasn't DGB

I am getting the slight feeling from every single post for the last few weeks that you aren’t interested in Barrass but it will get done or at the very least they will work as hard as humanly possible to make it work
Suspect we might not be going in with eitherThere is no way we go into next season with those 2 firsts.
The deal wasn't leaked to the media first and it caught them by surprise. So they are not coping and trying to read way too much into it. How dare clubs not involve the media before their every move.According to afl.com.au hawthorn have ‘blown up the trade period’
How so? Sensationalism
Yep, a clearly stated List Management need. Getting Battle doesn’t change that.Good question.
Yes, it's exactly what this team needs to go to the next level. And a KPF - but he's likely already on our list.
So, get the FB.

You should work on gettable. As I reported on….
To be fair, if we don't get barrass I'll be disappointed but we still have frosty and got in battle. Our backline is top 5 right now, minimum, with barrass, top 3.
But if we keep the picks for 2025, 2 firsts and 2 seconds. We either hit the draft one more time or go for a big mid or big kpf.
Either way what ever happens is a win/win for hawks. WCE have everything to lose and everything to gain. Keep a disgruntled player and recieve no picks or get a future first and second for barrass and 3rd
