I just heard Cal say the Hawks are coming hard for pick 13?

Please tell me we are not offering the Blues picks we acquired to essentially move from pick 14 to pick 13.

I do not understand the walk away from Barass brigade.
You lot forget how Hogan bullied our defence?
Imagine that happening in a final and the perfect defender for a player like Hogan, we decided to walk away from.

Georgiadis caused our backline some dramas in the final also. Georgy is not pushing around Barrass one bit.

Yep, such nonsense, no one will commit to us, if we walk away from someone after convincing them to nominate us. The guy has said his farewells FFS.

If the Dee's crash and burn next season (strong possibility) this is a horrible deal by them.

Well done bombers, I guess.
Bombers a whole different entity this trading period.

Instead of throwing hail mary offers at every free agent and player up for trade , they're trying to move on Stringer and load up on picks.

That doesn’t mean we should pay overs for Barrass.

A future 1 and future 2nd is fair compensation. Eagles are just being jerks.

I am happy to walk away if they keep this two first round picks crap up!

I know we are committed to Barrass but walking away from this deal is equally appealing.

We have seen Dear blossom this year, I would absolutely love to see McCabe grasp the same opportunity.
We were kind of forced into it with Dear due to the injury with Lewis. Much rather MCCabe debuts in a team without the pressure of being the main key defernder - Having Barrass, Battle and Scrim around means he can play initially as an intercept defender on the third best forward.

(and if you think Dear looks good now - wait till he plays in a team with Mitch Lewis where he isn't the main key forward and he gets the lesser defenders on him)

If Bailey Smith goes into the national draft - how does that effect his contract? Can he demand a price in the national draft? Or does that get negotiated with the club that drafts him?

Many deals fall through, I don’t think it’s as bad as you think.

Personally as long as we put a fair offer to west coast for Barrass and we have …. WCE will be seen as the one in the wrong.

That’s the first time I have heard you express reservations about Barrass…………….. NOT

Every recruit and every player can have injuries at anytime.

I’d love to hear your thoughts when we got Silk and I don’t mean hindsight thoughts either.

Here is what I said regarding Lake on Oct 4th, pretty much spot on I would have thought:

Trade Month - Speculation, Rumour and Discussion Here Post #810

Don't want to quote the WB supporter above for size but he makes some good points. He sums up lakes playing ability very well, and it is clear to see how he would add to Hawthorn.

However I can't see the hawks giving up a 1st round pick for a player in their 30's. You can expect to get a quality player with a pick in the 20's and we would be risking possibly only 1-2 years of service from Lake.

That move doesn't seem like a big deal but it would hurt all those vying to get pick 13 and potentially block teams from getting certain players: especially Sydney. Trading is not just for players but an opportunity to stop the opposition from getting better and competing with you on the ground. Not saying this will happen but if it does it will be for that reason.

I think we're hoping to acquire Tom Barass, and then swap him for pick 13

Many deals do not fall through though, Most get done.
Can you remember a deal where a player nominated the hawks, didn’t get done.

Yes, if WC are unreasonable to the point the deal doesn’t get done, then it will be on WC.
