Operation Make them pay up, me thinks. There would have to be a 1% chance at best that Carlton could afford him.
St.Kilda could legitimately offer the biggest contract in AFL history considering their midfield is what requires the most attention. Up to them to have the best year they possibly can in 2025.
Brayshaw is absolutely not a need for us, despite being a quality player.
I would think the Brayshaw play would be if they believed Worpel is going to exercise his free agency rights. We are still thin up forward despite our year and where is our depth? To me the next 2 years now must concentrate forward given the suring up of the backline, unless any of our mids like Worpel Ward McKenzie were leaving.

LDU be a better replacement for a Worpel than Brayshaw, wouldn't be?I would think the Brayshaw play would be if they believed Worpel is going to exercise his free agency rights. Prefer AB to LDU , IMO but IDK reallyLDU be a better replacement for a Worpel than Brayshaw, wouldn't be?
*not that Worpel is leaving. Just continuing the conversation.
I reckon LDU would be a pretty good target either way.

Yep, ROI is much better with FA. New CBA means TPP going up too. Could potentially bring in an MVP some future HFC HOF or even AFL HOF players. And if we copy Geelong we can probably sign players up as PMs at KFC and not impact our TPP.Have a crack at all good UFA and RFA talent. You can never have too many good players, especially when you acquire them for TPP space only
Except for that time Melbourne went after Brodie Grundy. That was one time where a good player should not have been pursuedHave a crack at all good UFA and RFA talent. You can never have too many good players, especially when you acquire them for TPP space only

Gotta be selective or you'll end up with a lopsided list & no agility when you need to target for positional needs
FFS , NFW ……thought STD was about phones until she told meU ITK?
I imagine that you land LDU as a RFA by offering him a contract that nets the Roos a pick after their first, likely in the top 3. This would give them two top 5 picks to take to the draft.Brayshaw, LDU will cost ….. cap wise while having a few lined up for a pay rise soon. Prefer to keep what we have, not rock the boat and keep the current group coming through together!

They wouldn’t match, and he would absolutely top off our midfield.

LDU.
Get it done.

Hopefully the club has been smart and front-loaded a lot of the contracts using the salary room that it's well documented that we've had over the last year or two. E.g. Chol, Ginni, Sicily etc. on long(er) term deals hopefully had big chunks of it up-front.My only issue with offering LDU this kind've money which you'd assume would have to be more than what we just gave Battle to net the Roos Band 1 compo is that we need to start being wary that oppo clubs will start to come for our young guns with godfather offers.
I'm not saying that players like LDU and Battle aren't great players but rather that we need to be smart managing our salary cap flexibility wisely. I'd hate for us to get to a point were we were to acquire LDU only to then lose a MacKenzie or Macdonald because we got blown out of the water with an offer we just couldn't get anywhere near.
All I'm saying is it's all good and well to chase after players but we also have to make sure there's a scope to retain our quality kids that will eventually want / earn a bigger slice of the pie.
Mornington Peninsula boy who goes to Rye every chance he gets isn't he?I imagine that you land LDU as a RFA by offering him a contract that nets the Roos a pick after their first, likely in the top 3. This would give them two top 5 picks to take to the draft.

They can moonlight as Chief of Drums and Wings at KFC.My only issue with offering LDU this kind've money which you'd assume would have to be more than what we just gave Battle to net the Roos Band 1 compo is that we need to start being wary that oppo clubs will start to come for our young guns with godfather offers.

Isn’t this oversold though given you have to pay 95% year on year? For example in 2022 we only would have banked about 650k spare so you would need several years of this to do any significant sort of front loading. Front loading will also become dangerous as clubs will try to pick off older stars when they start getting the low backended money with sizeable offers. I believe that was the Saints play for Merrett so it’s started already. List mgt is fascinating hey…Hopefully the club has been smart and front-loaded a lot of the contracts using the salary room that it's well documented that we've had over the last year or two. E.g.
