So with Freo and Adelaide the two named clubs to have approached Gulden, did Sydney call our bluff and convince him to turn down a 10 year contract for a 4 year contract? Or was the 10 year offer a hail mary from Adelaide?

I doubt he was ever signing a deal that big. Tassie is going to get a lot of players loaded, big name young guns dont want to miss out

They've been reports from various football news online sources (yeah I get how unreliable those sources are but this is where rumours get posted on freo bigfooty) saying we were targeting three players at Sydney. Considering Chad Warner is contracted it wouldn't surprise me if the third player was actually Will Hayward. He would be a very good fit for us and Sydney could be struggling to match a decent offer of say 600K for his services. He's a free agent and in my opinion very underrated. He's got great speed and kicking skills from what Ive seen.
The best thing about targeting Gulden and Hayward is that even if we don't get them, it drives up their contacts -leaving less room in Sydney's cap for McDonald and Warner.

Ollie Florent is another free agent swan who would be a good addition to our team in my opinion. He's also a free agent. If we can't get McDonald then getting either Hayward or Florent wouldn't be the worse outcome. That way we keep our picks in whats shaping up as a strong draft.
Always thought Florent is meh, so hard pass on him

Adelaide offered Gulden 10 years. He was never going to leave, but good on the Crows for having a red hot crack

A useful player that is a free agent and could be gettable is Isaac Cumming of GWS.
Very neat ball user off half back or a wing even, and is underrated. Would cost nothing in draft capital and would be a good age to hit the ground running as soon as he gets here.
Injured so far this season with a calf issue but has played some decent footy in his 75 career games for GWS.

Would we be into Jack McCrae from the doggos? We need a fyfe replacement

If he had it in him to be that type of player, it probably would've showed up at some level by now. Sometimes you see a player whose attributes line up for a particular role, and they actually fit it like a video game. Other times, you get Riley Collier Dawkins.
He had leukemia and battled that for years plus a snapped achilles jumping a fence. He was first in agility and ran a 2km time trial of 6.33. I liked what I saw when he ventured up the ground last week. He has the power, weight and aggression to be a mid field bull.

Because I put a good 30 minutes of research into this and want more credit I'm bringing over my post from the Baker thread on the DTFA. I've dived deeper into why it would be INCREDIBLY unlikely for WC to get Baker.

Here is the names of players traded in by rebuilding teams (Gold Coast, West Coast, Freo, Adelaide, Hawks, North) since 2018 that were over 24 and cost more than a top 30 pick in value. Jess Hogan, Rory Lobb, Tim Kelly, Jaspar Pittard, Jared Polec and Dylan Shiel.

Now, there would be some debate on when these players were brought into their clubs that the club wasnt rebuilding, but that only strengthens my case.

That’s just speculation though right? Has he ever played there before?

Haven’t seen much midfield craft from Emmett. He needs to nail down forward role first before he ventures into a midfield that already bats deep and doesn’t have room for Erasmus JOM and Brodie.

In saying that in years to come short bursts for kamikaze style could work but not now thanks.

Emmett is good with pressure acts but some of decision making at times leaves a little to be desired. He was subbed out the other game so is on the fringe really.

This is such a weird comparison. Fyfe isn't Fyfe because of his speed but because of his brutal strength and height. Emmett has neither. If you want to replace Fyfe you need another midfield bull. That is why Ras/Brodie and the most likely replacement.

Sounds good but anybody kicking 5 a game isn't getting to whatever pick we'll have.
Yes agreed, it depends on the needs of the clubs with a pick before us and not every team has space though?

If we keep progressing as hoped our pick could be further back.

I did read the mid season draft is set for May 19 because that is when teams will all have played the same amount of games before the bye kicks in and the order is where teams are on the ladder at the time.
