Brayshaw to a wing is an interesting one. Personally I hope they keep him inside
I don't mean permanently because that's a massive waste, but when you have more than 3 top tier mids they all have to play somewhere else for part of the game.

300% game time for mid positions.

Andy
Caleb
Chad
Young
Johnson

All do ~55% (55% x 5 = 275% leaving 25% for Switta et al) time in the middle which means they spend ~20% of the time somewhere else.

I agree but I don't think its going to Andy. Andy and Caleb are actually equal leaders for centre bounce clearances this season (2.6, but Caleb has double the stoppage clearances. Last 5 games Andy is 1st for us, and 9th in the comp actually, at 3 per game).
Andy may start some centre bounces on the wing or hbf or hff but he is so good at all the general on ball stuff (end to end run, repeat efforts, defensive pressure, tackling, spread from the contest) he's always going to swap straight on ball.
If we have a 5th midfielder they need to be able to play like 40% of the game off the ball as there isn't room on it as we are always going to have at least 2 on ballers where you lose too much moving them off ball relative to their performance on it.
In a optimistic world where both Johnson and Ras make it as centre square standard AFL mids then Johnson is going to have to be able to perform at wing or HHF as thats where he is going to end up a significant minority of the time (even if he starts at the CB).

Shorter version: It would be good if the next mid that comes in is as good in their second position as they are on ball (cough Warner)

Warner currently only plays 55 to 60 percent in middle, so should not impact him.

The inside wing role, should be used by these players with out losing too much. Obviously young back. The rest could play O'Meara role a bit as well.

But this is a big concern for Erasmus. Not sure how we squeeze him in.

Why does everyone assume Young would just go to the backline again. He is now a big bodied mid for us, a left footer and a point of difference. He stays as a mid.

All top teams run 4 or 5 people through the middle , plus small stints for others.

55 percent mid. 30 else where e.g. wing or back is how I see young.

I think the discussion is all of them have a fair share of CBA ‘s but would still need a smaller % of time in another role along with a % of time on the bench.
Chad and Serong forward, Andy (Fyfe?) wing, Young back, each for approx 20% game time - or thereabouts

Is actually handy they can play differing roles if so, much more versatile squad than if they all could only fill in say on the wing for example.

I’m pretty sure that Young has been rested in the forward line for short stints in some matches.

Definitely Richmond, possibly also St Kilda. We were making hard work of kicking goals in those matches and he either kicked some himself or was involved at the pointy end of some scoring chains.

I wonder if his off-ball rotations will be in the forward line if/when The Chad lands.

The CBA stuff is a complete non-issue. People forget a high half forward role is almost a midfielder in the modern game sometimes.

Chad can spend time forward, and all of them can spend time forward for small periods. Brayshaw has done a fair bit this year, Young can easy do this and I even saw Serong forward against Dees. Wing for small periods is an option too

Fyfes TOG will continue to go down, and he has only 1 year left on his contract. He is also a risk to get injured at any time

I recon he could have better output though, only because Bolton is stuck being the cream on a cake still in the oven, while Sturt could be on the end of some good wins if he can hold his spot, improve and the team really gets cranking in the next few years.

Different players though.
Sturt is clean, quick and fast. Just doesnt have the killer instinct / doesbt get into “the zone” the way the a graders do.
Think less, do more

This part is not accurate, he is already down to 70% TOG and it's all on ball. Any lower than that is out of the side.

Could you get that to 80 if he rested every 3rd week?

Considering his management didn’t want to deal with Freo last time (Tim Kelly) I’d say that whoever broke this story got it very very wrong. Dodged a massive bullet on that Kelly deal 🙏

Warner rumours getting even stronger. Don’t know if anyone could tell from that airport interview with Chad but he had Simon Garlicks kitchen sink in his luggage.
Have you heard any more on this front?

I'm all in on trying to lure Warner here this off season, would be a better pickup than Bolton, besides we don't need multiple first round picks, we already have enough young talent that aren't getting games played into them, what use is grabbing more that'll end up in exactly the same spot, established talent is what we need right now.

We 100% need Warner with Fyfe who is in his twilight. We also need a gun small forward with Walters also in his twilight.

We have almost every other position covered.

Bolton is contracted so Freo would have to offer heaven and earth for a required player at his club.

I'd honestly part with all or firsts for this year and next for both of them. Both clubs may still not accept it. It's highly unlikely this year. Maybe next year wuth Warner.

Richmond may want the draft picks prior to Tasmania's draft but that's speculative.

Freo may well go into the draft with their full hand and hopefully nail them.

"Continue" to go down was the wrong word as like you said it has already gone down, from around 80% start of the year.

But regardless, my point was that he is becoming more of a role player and only has 1 year left. That combined with moving CBA's around for players is easily done to accomodate Warner who spends a decent chunk of time forward anyway. Midfield time is not an issue at all.

We even saw Switta get 5 CBA's in the last quarter against Collingwood with all of those guys playing already

Ryan Pearce Clark
Chapman Cox Aish
Sharp Warner Brayshaw
Bolton Treacy Frederick
Baker Amiss Jackson

Darcy Serong Young

Switta Cameron Walker Fyfe (Banfield)

Emergencies Simpson Curtin Johnson

Could win a game or two this mob.

Edit: forgot we are also getting Charlie Cameron. Toss up between 2025 Fyfe and Johnson.
