McDonald reminds me of Jenkins. Constantly out the back. It's definitely a skill but probably not the one I'd target in a key forward.

I'd give a lot for Warner or Gulden though. Those two will be unstoppable in their peaks.
I think a smart forward who knows where to be is fine, particularly when you have Amiss and Jackson there as well. McDonald running all over the ground should cause headaches rolling with Jackson while Amiss stays close to goal.

Would definitely prefer Gulden or Warner but even entertaining Gulden is farcical really and Warner just doesnt feel likely.

McDonald will be a good AFL player for 10 years, we dont have many forwards yuo can say that about

So in addition to death riding clubs we can do the opposite (whatever that is) for all Swans, particularly those out of contract and with no interest in WA?

That stuff is all fine and I agree, but one thing we'll really need from our KPFs is the bailout mark. He doesn't look remotely likely currently and it's not really Amiss' strength either (although he can do it an will likely get better at it).

I completely forgot We get Pies first rounder this year. Hopefully that premiership hangover lasts as long as possible...
We have a thread for it.

Question is, what would you offer Gulden to still be comfortable if he unbelievably accepts but make Swans pay through the nose?

1.3m would be about the old 1m a year deals...
Assuming we have it, 1.4 x 10

Gulden would make Treacy look like Carey with the delivery he'd get.

You could bury a lot of that at the end of an eight year contract. His ball use is a weapon that makes everyone else look better. We are lucky Sydney don't have him AND Jordan Dawson in their side.

Isn't getting out the back a Taberner move?

Tabs with no fitness issues and footy smarts would be a hell of a player. Mcdonald will develop his frame more and stay out of Jye's leading lanes while running the opposition into the ground. He will also be able to do it against the second or third best defender.

I feel like Gulden fills a need more, Warner means one of Fyfe, Young, AB or Serong gets pushed to another role, let alone starving opportunities for Johnson and Ras to get inside minutes. When is Warner ooc?
Warner has played on a wing a fair bit when Ive seen him play. He can also play forward and be effective just like he was tonight. I think we could rotate Serong forward and Brayshaw wing more if we got him too. In my opinion he'd be absolutely massive and help us all over the field. Geez if Collingwood finished outside of the top 6 even we'd have a ton of option for trading.

What is Logan really worth in salary? I would suggest maybe $700k per annum…
He’s not aggressive enough for mine. His point of difference appears to be running ability. But tabs can run… I would like more than that. The great key forwards that mark the footy well are angry, hard beasts that hurt opposition blokes.

He marks quite well, very safe hands. I’d pay a million to add Chad Warner to the midfield.

One thing to remember is salaries across the board have gone up, and getting a player to move is always going to take a bump up in most circumstances.

I'm not decided on whether it's a good idea, but comparing LMac against the best forwards probably isn't that helpful.
The question will be can he make us better?

If one of the best forwards suddenly wants to come here, and it becomes one or another then sure.

He is not smart enough with leads either, struggles to create any separation with his man except through out running him.

He is not great, if you kick to him down the line. I would not want to pay any more than 700k for him.

Of course he makes us better.

Treacy’s highest tally in a season is 15. McDonald has just scored a third of that in two games and has already gone 30+ once after three years in the system.

Can’t help think that Treacy is going to be a slightly better version of Kepler Bradley tbh. Of course they play completely differently but we spent an entire premiership window because 2012-2015 desperately trying to secure a better second KPF and didn’t.

If McDonald or JVR becomes available they’re a clear upgrade on Treacy and it needs to be done. I’m not sure getting a non-WA is overly realistic tbh but any of the others that’ve come through the WA pathways the last five or so years aren’t any better than Treacy imo - if anything I’d say they’re inferior.

Not sure if many of you listen to hard ball gets. But I can tell you 🦏 knows about Warner, and he’s sitting on it.

It's not just Mcdonald vs Treacy.

Treacy plus 2 first round picks and cap space vs Mcdonald add change from the Swans and Possible Treacy trade, most likely 2 third round picks.
