I'm not sure how hawthorn did it but early in 2022 Dear was rated as a late first round pick. His talent was there for all to see. **** I hate hawthorn
He kicked a lot of goals in VAFA Under 19s. Not sure if that was choice to play there or whether the TAC guys passed him over initially?

I think the AFL would allow us to trade a third out with one of our picks, with a second coming back - only real possibility I can see in terms of us trading out a pick.
Might be for the best if we ceased operating on the ‘never never’ and endlessly using future picks and backending contracts (to seek glory for the present administration).

With tassie coming in 2027, I can understand going all in over the next 2 years. We don't know what the drafting will look like after tassie.

Rather than hoping we trade up in the draft, I'm now hoping we trade a pick out with a third for second upgrade. 2nd round picks will be the prime matching picks next year, and I don't think they are going to be easy to come by if Mcguane goes high. And ultimately I don't think moving up a few spots at that stage makes much difference in the likelihood of drafting a senior player.

We have some NGA's and a FS in 2027 that I think will be good players so I'm not too much worried.

3 more days until night 1
4 for night 2.

Hopefully two KPP's and a mid/small forward.
I agree with the 2 key position players being taken - and in fact I am not opposed to taking 3 - and a big-bodied mid-fielder who is not only good on the inside but also possesses good skills & especially when it comes to kicking. We do not need turnover merchants in 2024/25.

Would have to payout one of AJ or markov in order to make a 4th selection, but I do share the same sentiment.

Which one of the 3 do you think we'll take, they can all play
Archer for me. He'll hit the mark. Day and Wicks will look bright early, but Day will fade quickly with a dark finish and Wicks will burn out quickly.

At start of 2nd night of the draft, let's have a thread where we post our guesses for our 3 picks.

I'd also suggest another thread where you get a 2nd guess just before the pick is made...but that might crash us
