WT: “A couple of last minute interviews but generally most of the work has been done, we came together as a group two and half weeks ago and made most of our calls then and out of that, we hit the road and did last minute catch-ups”.
The thing I don’t get is after the draft is done n dusted, no info comes out of who the clubs wanted the most.
It’s like it’s erased from their memory

Geez Chubbs, you had to put the Kevlar on for that Jagga comment eh?..

FWIW I knew exactly what you were alluding to when you first said it, but I gotta admit.. watching the air raid coming in thick and fast and watching you defending gave me a chuckle lol.

Good work soldier! :)
Yeah I know geez. Not to mention at least five other people have said they don't like the fit of Jagga with us and rate others higher lol.

Almost like they don't want the players they picked not to know they preferred others?

What do you mean by this one GR, is this where each club supposedly rates each player in their order of preference?

What I took out of this is:
We are definitely taking FOS and we think he will be on the board at 2.
We will take River Stevens, Thursfield had a slip of the tongue I felt and let us know.
Finally, anyone that feels Goad is A dud or a waste of a first round pick last year should really wake up to themselves, 208cm which was reiterated just then in the chat, let’s give him the time he needs to develop.

Essendon would surely have 28 and 31 on the table for multiple F2.

Brisbane may have 27 on the table.

Realistically our F2 is the best available other than maybe West Coast.

The only difficulty is adding later picks this year to it for points but I’m sure that if Kako or Marshall slip later than expected then that won’t be a worry.

Early F1 (ours, STK, ESS/Melb) would net you anywhere from 15-20ish (GWS, Sydney, maybe Richmond)

Late F1 probably more around 20-25 (Richmond’s picks)

Then Early F2 (Ours, WCE) probably the 25-35 range.
Might be a smart play to stay out of any f/s & academy bidding with pick 2. Good chance we are dealing with Lions or * for their late 20s/early 30s picks for our F2.
Straight out pick FOS with 2 and let him remind the Tigers over the next 15 years just who the rightful #1 was!

So Will mentions that FOS is a low possession, high impact player. Given that Wardlaw seems to be shaping that way, I don't want two of those.

I know I am going to be in the minority, but I don't want two of these types
The core midfield group will be
LDU
Sheezel
McKercher
Wardlaw
FOS

The top three are all 30+ possession types. We don't necessarily need another high possession type. We need players who can play around them.

It needs to be understood in context.

We aren't talking Taylor Garner here, we are talking in context of the likes of Nick Daicos, Jagga Smith and Colby McKercher.

Matt Rowell, Hayden Young, Chad Warner, Christian Petracca would be considered lower possession high impact players. As would Harley Reid.

They all average "only" 23 touches a game.

McCluggage averages 24.

FOS will be a 20+ disposal player, no doubt about it.

They just don't average the 30+ like Daicos, Serong and Sheezel will.

If your winger/outside ball user is getting that much of the ball, something odd is occuring anyway. I doubt even Colby gets that much of it in that role.

On the flip side, I like WT stating that Colby is being moved to half forward/wing/middle where he can be damaging going inside 50.

People forget, he was a terrific forward/mid as a bottom ager, he's a natural goal kicker.

Are we talking about the same Wardlaw? The one I'm talking about had a 30 touch and a goal game last year?

I think Wardlaw's numbers will go up a bit as he builds fitness and plays more TOG.
They are different players. FOS won't just be in the guts all the time like Wardlaw probably has to be.

To be fair, 'not a 30-disposal player' doesn't mean the player isn't capable of such a game. It just means that those numbers are high enough above their usual output as to be notable. From that viewpoint, I think Wardlaw fits that type perfectly

Although he hasn't had a great year and there are some worries there that didn't exist 10 months ago, I've thought since the beginning of the year and still think that FO'S is the best player in this class.

So for me, if Richmond are taking Lalor, I'm holding #2 and drafting FO'S. If Richmond take FO'S at #1 I'd trade back for Tauru.
Its sounding more like we are keeping Pick#2 and if we are going to trade something out it will be our Future picks. Going by Will we are looking at using 3 picks...

The Warlord will have plenty of 30 touch games across his career. Put him down for 25 and a goal a game by the end of his career.

If I’m wrong? Dunno, don’t care.

He averaged over 21 touches a game after the bye, including a patch before the concussion and 2 missed games of almost 24 touches a game. In that month he cracked the top 15 players in the league in their rolling 4 week rankings.

The 21 touches a game was only just behind Ashcroft.

The top possession getters per game for u/21's in the league:

1. Sheezel
2. McKercher
3. Ashcroft
4. Wardlaw
5. H.Reid
6. R.Sanders

I don't think we have anything to worry about....

Wardlaw by far the lowest TOG also.
